Lida Friluftsgård, located in Botkyrka municipality in Stockholm, offers a fantastic outdoor area with lots of different activities for children and adults. You can come here to hike in the Lida nature reserve or to try the Acropark high-altitude course, for example.
Table of contents
Lida Outdoor Centre and Nature Reserve
Lida Friluftsgård is a popular and well-liked place, and it's not hard to see why. The farm has 35 kilometres of hiking trails, jogging trails and ski trails. At Lida there is also a swimming area by Lake Getaren, a ski slope, a high-altitude course and outdoor golf.
Through Friluftsfrämjandet, there are fairytale-themed nature trails for children and a newly launched "Naturparkourpark" for children who want to climb, jump, crawl and discover nature in a new way. Many different competitions, events and camps are also organised here.
Lida Friluftsgård and nature reserve is located just south of Tullinge, in Botkyrka municipality in Stockholm County. We went here one day about a week ago, together with our neighbours Johan and Erica, to walk the Adventure Trail around Lake Getaren. It was a fantastic day!
Lida Inn
When you park in Lida, you can immediately see the inn, which is located on a small hill. There is a restaurant that serves lunch and coffee, and you can also organise a conference or party here. There is also a hostel in the area and the Naturport picnic hut, with microwave ovens and a small exhibition about animals and nature in the Lida nature reserve.
Lida sports church
Right next to the inn you will find Lida sports church. This is a cute little church, located with a fantastic view of Lake Getaren. The church was built in 1957 with the help of donations and voluntary work, and belongs to Friluftsfolkets Gudstjänstkommitté.
Acropark high ropes course
There are many different activities at Lida Friluftsgård, but the one we saw most of was the Acropark high-altitude course, which seemed to be very popular. Here we saw many families and children who wanted to try exciting climbing adventures.
Hiking trails in Lida Nature Reserve
We chose to walk the Adventure Trail around Lake Getaren, but there are also many other trails and hiking paths around Lida Friluftsgård. The Sörmlandsleden (which is about 1000 kilometres long in total) passes through here. There are also three trails that have orange labelling:
- Lida - Brantbrink 5.2 km
- Lida - Storvreten 4.8 km
- Lida - Harbro 6.6 km
There is also Friluftsfrämjandet's "Sinnenas Stig" and "Skogsmulles Hjulspår", where you can get around with a pram and wheelchair. For younger children there are four short (300-700 metres) adventure-themed trails:
- Forest mulch trail
- Fjällfinastigen
- Laxestigen
- Nova ladder
Adventure trail in Lida nature reserve
We walked the Adventure Trail, which our neighbours had walked once before, but in the other direction (you want some variety!). It turned out to be a really nice hike. The adventure trail is about 9.5 kilometres long and goes around Lake Getaren. The terrain is wild and hilly, which is also why the trail is called "Äventyrsstigen".
You climb over logs and stones, sometimes down into deep ravines and then up to high altitudes with fantastic views of the lake.
It is an extremely green and beautiful hike and the forest sometimes feels like a real magic forest, with fallen trunks and dense moss. In one place you can write in a guest book, which is kind of cute!
We found a nice place to eat our packed lunch, overlooking the lake. The spring sun was burning hot and it was really, really nice. We also had the chance to have a long chat with our nice neighbours.
At the end of the tour, we first passed a cute little farm with sheep, and then marshland with a small bird watching house. Then we were back again at Lida Friluftsgård. This was a super nice tour, which we can highly recommend!

Now is the perfect time to enjoy the beautiful nature in our neighbourhood. We must be grateful that we can at least move outdoors! Tourism at home will be the new thing for a while to come.

Yes, that's it! We are so grateful that we can move outdoors. We take the opportunity to discover nature in the county and there is a lot of nice 🙂 .

Ditte says:
Surely it is now extra nice to stay outside and take these long walks. We have visited Lida a lot before, but now it is not possible because we do not go by public transport and do not have a car. But we have other nature nearby so it's quite ok anyway. And we are outdoors a lot. Average of about 1 mil/day.
I understand that you had a lovely day out here.
18 April 2020 - 16:37
Helena says:
Good job walking so far every day!!! And there are nice areas even closer of course!

Emma, sun like sun? says:
That's it! Now you've been in my neighbourhood! I wonder how many times I have cycled to Lida for swimming, tip walks, exercise trails ... Many activities all year round with the scouts and the school. Remember the summer -82 when I and my friends hand in hand jumped from the bridge and I came all the way down to the bottom and there cut my foot, the scar remains. Probably some glass bottle someone threw into the water.
Glad you liked it, it's really nice there. They have done a lot since I was a kid!
18 April 2020 - 16:40
Helena says:
But what fun that you have so many memories from here! Or yes, the injury in the foot was not so fun of course ... Lida is really great and a lot of activities are organised there!

I Monica says:
Lida is world famous for its festivals for 20 years. Here came David Bowie, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan and a thousand other famous musicians, were very nice festivals without the dregs that were common, no, here all ages could camp and others could easily get back and forth.Today it is said that it could have continued with a little more help but the artists' wages went away so they chose to end.Have the same experiences as Emma, probably been here 1000 times, an understatement, nowadays sometimes, has a nice Christmas table. In the 50's, snow trips were arranged here from Stockholm, many celebrities here over the years.Erskine has been responsible for Lidahuset. And I think every school child south of the city has been forced to walk from the age of 7 in these ravines with more or less competent teachers, the rescue that always a couple of parents took a holiday day and took care of the little ones, myself for example. We trained our children but not all parents could or wanted to so our children took care of their friends as in a parental role.Sometimes a child (ADHD) ran away and the teacher disappeared for the day.

Very nice! Being out in nature should only be good, I think, as long as you keep your distance. Can't really understand this that you are not allowed to go out at all?

Never heard of Lida Friluftsgård. But it is soooo nice there. Oh what leg muscles you will get after all the hikes you have done during the corona crisis. No evil that has no good with it, you could say.
18 April 2020 - 20:05
Helena says:
Yes, we work a little on the leg muscles 😉 Most of the coronavirus is shit, but all evil also brings something good with it!
