Last weekend we celebrated an 80th birthday! This week, we've been mostly working, while adjusting more and more to the "new normal".

80th anniversary celebrations
Last weekend was my (Helena's) mum's 80th birthday. It is not possible to organise a major celebration in these times, but it was still festive with champagne, flowers and cake. The closest family met, at some distance of course, outdoors on the terrace. Very, very nice!
Visit to Peter's parents
Peter's dad has had a stroke and is in hospital. Fortunately, he got help quickly, but it will be a long rehabilitation and we don't yet know how he will feel once he has gone through this. In the meantime, Peter's mum needs help with various things.
Peter and his older brother Micke have travelled up to visit Peter's parents twice recently. We follow the recommendations to avoid "unnecessary travelling" outside the county, but now it's a matter of exceptionally necessary journeys.
Since Peter's dad has been in charge of the financial side of things, Peter's mum needs help with bills and other practical matters. They haven't entered the "computer age", so a lot of things have to be solved with phone calls and bank visits and the like. There will probably be a few more trips in the future.
'The new normal'
Incidentally, we have acquired some new habits during the coronavirus pandemic. In many ways, we think life has become a little more boring, a little more monotonous and filled with a little more worry. But we have also experienced some benefits. Here are some of the new habits we have acquired, which are not so bad after all:
Best this week
The best thing about this week was that it was a nice and very pleasant 80th birthday celebration after all! The rest of the week we have been glued to the new episodes of the Israeli TV series Fauda in the evenings. Soooo good! We miss it every day now that it's over. Available on Netflix!
The week ahead
Next week we hope to be able to go on a cycling trip, if the weather improves. We have several interesting destinations in mind! We will also write about an interesting city walk we did last week.

Glad that Helena's mum's birthday could be celebrated.
looks really cosy. BUT - Very sad about Peter's dad.
Looks in the photo as if he has a large family. Let's hope they
can help.
Here it has been grey and wet all day Thursday.
one of those cold things called 'bone chilling' - feels as if
you can never get warm. But nothing to complain about.
the heating is switched on.
It was very nice to visit your house yesterday. It is
It's amazing how you can squeeze yourself together when you need to.
I have a much too big house, but when you have lived here
for over 40 years and the house is paid for, it is difficult to move,
if you don't have to.
Thinking about Walpurgis Night! About 75 years ago, when I was...
teenager, it was the big event. The dance floor in the Folkets
Park opened! Oh, how I longed for it; it didn't matter,
how cold it was, you had to go there! - Now you have kept more awake
until half past twelve again. - Have a nice end of the week!

Thank you for your lovely comment Ruth! And how fun that you came on the house tour! 🙂 Valborg yes, it was not quite as usual yesterday ... Funny to hear that it was such a big party already 75 years ago! Nice weekend!

Congratulations to your lovely mum! Nice that you could still have a party for her 🙂 .
Very sad about Peter's dad, hope he recovers quickly. Heavenly good that they could go and help the mother when there was an acute crisis.
The best thing this week was the news that we will be allowed to go out more freely from tomorrow. Stupid times for our part (according to me then) but guuuu how nice it will be!

Tough on old parents, Peter's dad is getting better!
Congratulations to the 80-year-old!
Of course, times are different, and I am most afraid of infecting others as I work so close to COVID-19 infected people. I only dare to meet my sons outdoors, and that doesn't happen very often.
So you feel isolated. But now it's time to work at the weekend again after a longer holiday. Thought to cycle tonight, but what a rainy weather!!!
Take care! Hugs

How nice that you could celebrate your mum and how sad about Peter's dad. I guess that's how life is, celebration and joy mixed with sadness and worries. I hope he is doing well. In a way, the weeks pass quickly with us, but at the same time life is getting boring. We miss good company and our loved ones. As it looks now, it will continue for a long time ...

Yes, that's how life is, thank you! Yes, it is easy for things to become a little more monotonous now. We believe, like you, that this can go on for quite some time and have prepared ourselves for it.

Congratulations to your mum! So glad you were able to celebrate her outdoors, and the weather was on your side.
Not fun with Peter's dad. Getting a stroke/becoming ill in these corona times is not great either. But I hope he recovers soon.

Thank you! It was supposed to be cold, so we dressed properly, but then the weather was quite nice anyway! Not fun with Peter's dad, but at least Peter has an unusual amount of time and opportunity to help, so that's good.
