We celebrated Midsummer Eve on Väddö in Roslagen, in Norrtälje municipality. We drove here with the motorhome after a very stressful day at home, with the aim of a few days of peace and quiet.

Midsummer's Eve on Väddö
Getting away from home was a misery. the day before Midsummer's Evebut in the end we arrived at the campsite on Väddö that we had booked. We had no idea about the campsite, but we knew that we wanted to take it easy and be by the sea. Sandvikens havscamping turned out to be a fairly simple campsite, but it is nicely located on the coast, with both a sandy beach and cliffs.
Cycling on Väddö
We started Midsummer Eve morning with a bike ride with the electric bikes. We took a little bit along Roslagsleden and found, among other things, Old Grisslehamn and the nature reserve Rönnskärs udde. Fantastically beautiful nature and many charming houses, boathouses and piers.
We also found a "Smultronställe" and that is never wrong, right? We will show more pictures tomorrow!
Midsummer lunch
After the bike ride, it was time for the traditional midsummer lunch with herring and new potatoes, gravad salmon with courtmaster sauce, eggs with rum and fresh prawns. Folk beer and a bit of Skåne were the icing on the cake. The weather was absolutely fantastic and we really enjoyed sitting out in the sun in our new outdoor furniture.
Dinner and play with drones
In the afternoon, we hung out at the campsite with a walk along the rocks and fixed those lights that wouldn't light up (but which came back on after we changed a fuse).
In the evening we had lamb fillet with potato gratin, and then Peter took time to "play" with his drone. If there were any photos? Yes! We will tell you more about the campsite and the surrounding area tomorrow, and then we will also show the drone pictures.
How did you celebrate Midsummer's Eve yesterday?
Matts Torebring says:
We ourselves like that simplicity and perhaps it suited you well, after such a stressful day before. What a party you made of it all. Väddö sounded so familiar, so I had to go to Google Maps and then I recognised myself directly on the map. We have several large summer camps as customers, out on Väddö.

Yes, it was a small party in the simple, it is what you make it 🙂 Glad that you have summer school on Väddö as customers!

Nothing wrong with your Midsummer Eve - lovely! 🙂 We celebrated with a couple of friends by eating a midsummer lunch in the city, it was not wrong either.
On Väddö we have actually camped several times, we camped in the forest at the bridge fortress towards Singö. Heavenly nice out there 🙂
Have a nice midsummer day!

Sounds great?
We celebrated with a couple of friends at their home. We also started with herring, ham for those who do not eat herring and new potatoes. A nubbe for the men. Meringue cake for afternoon coffee. A little walk with their dog. In the evening we had prawn rice instead of something grilled. It's very good?
Have a good midsummer weekend.

What a lovely Midsummer's Eve you had. We wavered between going by campervan or staying at home and as they promised rain Saturday-Sunday we decided to stay at home. We had herring lunch with a couple of friends at our place and in the evening we went up to our neighbours and sat with social distance in their garden.
A perfectly fine Midsummer's Eve!

Then you celebrated Midsummer with Susjos as your neighbour. She and her husband also went to their friends on Väddö.
Looks really nice and calm, just what you needed after the misery the day before. So you only drank folk beer and not strong beer... You are not sick or;-)?
20 June 2020 - 20:39
Helena says:
Haha, not sick. But you can take an extra nubbe if you stick to folk beer 😉.

It sounds like a quiet and cosy Midsummer's Eve. Good that you got away in the end. Absolutely crazy how crazy it was for you!
We celebrated in Idrefjäll with equally wonderful weather.
