We've got a new windscreen on the camper, as we had stone chips in the old one. We have also fixed (or at least tried to fix) the knocking noise that we hear when driving, polished the headlights and got some small new details for the motorhome.

New windscreen on the motorhome
"We had lots of stone chips in our campervan windscreen, so this week Peter took the car to Ryds Glas in Spånga. He dropped it off in the morning and was able to pick it up about four hours later. For this he had to pay the deductible of 1500 SEK. Great to drive away with a new whole front window!
Fix 'clunking' sounds
We have long had a "clunking" sound when driving the motorhome. It's loud and really annoying. Peter has been lying under the campervan and spraying various products, but nothing has helped. Over time, it has only gotten worse and worse. This week, Peter took the motorhome to Kihlströms in Spånga. He dropped the car off in the morning and was able to pick it up later that day.
Apparently, for some reason, there were double leaf springs that were rubbing against each other. The company cut one of the springs at both ends. The price was SEK 3100, but unfortunately it was still chattering a bit when Peter drove away. He is not completely satisfied and will call again.
Polishing headlights
Now that we have looked over the motorhome, we have noticed that the headlights were yellowed, foggy and "opaque". Peter bought a means at Biltema, which would be used for this and then he put me (Helena) to work.
You would first use a special cream to "sand" the panes, by making circular movements with a special cloth provided in the package. I rubbed this cream for quite a long time. It was much better than before, but perhaps not quite as good as I had hoped. Finally, another cream would be used to "preserve" the whole thing.
And some new stuff inside the motorhome
We have also acquired some new small details. It's fun to redecorate and renew, even when it comes to small things. Our old potholders could not be cleaned. We bought new ones, and since we are now focusing on blue in the interior, we had to use blue potholders.
We also needed new drawers to store glass, after the last one became unusable. chewed up by mice (!). We found the new boxes at Clas Ohlson and Peter convinced me to choose pink boxes. I was a bit hesitant, but now I'm happy.
When we were at Biltema, we took the opportunity to buy a new broom. I don't think we've ever changed a broom before, so it was about time after ten years. Imagine that such small details can feel fresh and fun!
Now we have a new windscreen on the motorhome and many other things are also fixed! If you have a motorhome, have you fixed anything this season?
Matts Torebring says:
Getting rid of these noises can be almost impossible. We had it in the penultimate car and countless workshop visits and various attempts but nothing helped. It became one of the reasons when we changed cars in 2017. When I drove the new car home in the summer of 2018, it was silent for five miles. Oh, how nice, it was worth changing the car, but then the same error came again. This time I got tough. Now the entire panel in the front of the cockpit was removed. It turned out that the new panel was scratched on the underside after only 100 miles. When this was discovered, an alarm went to the factory for action. USCH what a sad story this was. All the best!

Wow, sad that you also had problems with sound! At the same time a little worrying that it is so difficult to overcome ... We'll see how it goes.

Sitting and hearing an unfamiliar sound while driving can drive you crazy! Especially when the mechanic doesn't even do it. We got rid of the squeak we heard, don't remember how. Think it was something with the wheels.
Haha, you guys are funny! You decide that it should be blue and then you buy pink baskets. Well, it's your motorhome! I haven't thought about putting the glasses down, but you're right about that.
About the lantern, they can go bad on the inside of the glass too. There are small particles that travel around and blow there as well. We have also experienced this on a car, we ended up replacing the glass, luckily we found a good second-hand one!
Have a nice weekend!

Helena says:
Haha, the pink baskets do not really fit in, although they are not visible when you do not open the drawers. Blue was not available, so we chose between grey and pink ... Interesting about the glass, it may be that it is bad on the inside too!

We had to get a new windscreen on the car a few weeks ago after stone chips, which caused it to crack. What a lift it was.
Such a good idea to put the glasses down! In this motorhome they are like picking sticks in the cupboard, something we have never had a problem with before. Now we have to "reorganise".
13 June 2020 - 9:44
Helena says:
We find it handy to have the glasses lying around, so they stay still while travelling... 😉.

I recognise the blasting on the inside of the lanterns. Hope you get the sound sorted out, clearly annoying. We also use Kihlströms, have problems with oil leaks. Strange. Lovely with a new windscreen ...
Our car has now been stationary for three months for the first time in its wheel life. It will be interesting to see it on Monday.
? What a large grey commercial boat lying idle in Lake Ulvsunda yesterday...?

Difficult with problems with oil leakage! The knocking is annoying actually, a bit boring ... Hope it will be cosy to meet the motorhome again! 🙂 (Peter said he also saw that big boat ...)

With many stone chips on the windscreen, a new one makes a difference. We have also had to change our windscreen, twice when there have been large shots.
Smart to put the glasses in boxes.
We still have our car parked? thought I'd go out and sit in it today?
Have a nice weekend

Helena says:
Yes, it is easy to get stone chips ... Hope it feels good to get out in the motorhome 🙂 Are you planning to roll soon?

Anette Åhnbrink says:
Say what we have not done on the motorhome ... but changing the windscreen was probably the best! Too bad it lasted just over a month ... now there is a small stone chip that has been repaired again, but it was so nice! You have done like us, repaired and fixed instead of buying new, we feel too good about the one we have, the only thing we want in a new one is without a bed in the front, you need a little more cabinets when you live in the car, but it's quite nice not to have so much stuff, read clothes, one in one out is what matters! May probably look at your solution of glass, it, is the only thing we buy a lot of, they have a tendency to break ... of course real glass ... roll calmly this summer! Will be a short trip at midsummer for us, otherwise we are docked in our place at work and our new awning!

Helena says:
It's a shame with a new rockfall, but that's what happens sooner or later ... Hope you have a nice trip in midsummer!

Those sounds are very annoying. But we have one that we have got used to. The air intake sometimes makes a rattling noise. We usually say that "now the cockroach is at it again" and then hope that it will stop in a while, which it usually does 🙂 ).
How well you have fixed! A new windscreen must be pure heaven 😀.
Have fun!
13 June 2020 - 10:53
Helena says:
The cockroach ... haha. Ours sounds more like a ... loud toad? No, seriously, annoying although slightly better than before.

We have changed the batteries in our motorhome as it was completely dead. Now fixed the puncture on it and waiting for service. Then we can go again.

Great that you got this sorted out and can roll again! Wish you nice trips this summer!

Then you have worked well! I am especially impressed with the masking tape around the lanterns, I mean you thought of it, or was it Peter who came up with the idea to protect the paint.
Good thing you didn't buy pink potholders anyway. The boxes are not visible;-)
13 June 2020 - 20:59
Helena says:
The masking tape ... well that was Peter's idea 😉 And haha, no. the boxes are not visible 😉 .

We also had some strange noise in ours. Tom changed the bushings for the rear elasticated blade braces. Now it's quiet again.?

Helena says:
Thanks for the info! Interesting! We'll see if we return again or not, or if we'll do some more sawing ourselves...

Motorhomes have double leaf springs because they carry heavy loads. Try looking at another motorhome. Wrong to cut the leaf spring (according to Tom). Hope you can fix Freedom

We still have a fairly new car so our Adria is clean, nice and fresh even with a new car smell?
But surely a new windscreen will do the trick, we still have no stone chips on ours?
Take care......

Those noises can drive you crazy. So annoying. Kind of interesting to cut out things that then turned out not to be the problem 🙂.
