It was time to present our travel plans for the summer of 2020! At the beginning of the year we had plans for a motorhome trip in Europe, but now we have switched to Sweden, and we are really looking forward to our new plans.

Mediterranean heat and a pleasant visit
What heat we have had this week! Absolutely fantastic! It is almost as if it is too much of a good thingbut, as usual, we dare not complain. In the marina where we live, it's busy. Everyone is poking in and out of the harbour entrance: pleasure boats, jet skis and people on stand up paddle boarding. There are even people swimming past our kitchen window.
On the way home from our midsummer weekend in Roslagen, Peter's son Robin called and asked if he and his wife Alexandra could come over and offer "some takeaway food". What a wonderful initiative! We have been careful with social contacts and have not seen each other for a very long time, but outdoors and at a distance you can meet. Fantastic fun and nice!!! And what food then, lots of super good tapas. Many, many thanks!
Co-operation on products in the online shop
One thing that has happened this week is that we have agreed on forms of co-operation with one of our most important partners on products in the web shops. Now both parties are happy, and it's a great feeling. This is a collaboration that we are very happy about. We are already developing exciting products together, and it will be great fun to tell you about them a little later. The plan is to open the web shop after this summer's campervan trip.
Our travel plans for summer 2020
So, what are our travel plans for the summer of 2020? We haven't been so quick to plan, but now we have a plan, and we're really looking forward to this summer's adventure in Sweden!
I (Helena) work about two more weeks and on weekends we roll on shorter trips north along the coast between Stockholm and Gävle (and possibly a little longer). Then it's time for the summer's real long trip!
We are planning to take the motorhome on a trip along the Göta Canal. We've done some research and there seems to be a lot of lots of exciting and interesting places to discover along the way. We will of course be blogging throughout the trip and hope that you will follow us here on the blog, and maybe also on @freedomtravelnews at Facebook and Instagram. If you have any tips for us, that's great too!
Best this week
The best thing about this week is that we have finalised the details of one of our collaborations on products in the webshop. It was also fun to - by chance - find the lovely and wonderful Viking village Storholmen last weekend! What has been the best part of your week?
The week ahead
We will be travelling with the motorhome every weekend now, so expect reports from our motorhome trips!

Göta Canal is a good choice for us who have been there a few times. We do not have so far to go and cycling along the canal is great, our most common destination has been Vassbacken which is very nice. There are also not so long distances between the locks and the boat traffic is usually lively. If you have time to spare, Tiveden is very nice with its forest and its lakes.

Great to hear that you believe in the Göta Canal! And thanks for the tips! 🙂

These sound like good holiday plans given the current circumstances.
The best part of this week has been the lovely heat and visits to our beautiful beaches. Swimming in summer-warm water should not be underestimated either!
Have a nice weekend 😀.

Caravanning along the Göta Canal combined with cycling is a great choice of holiday destination!
Hope you hear from you when you come down Västergötland so maybe we can meet somewhere!
The best of the week must be where we are now; lovely Kungshamn in a wonderful summer weather!

Great plans! I had a multi-day road trip planned but then there was a little trouble with the car so I did not dare to drive so far from home... Have a holiday in August as well so maybe then instead... The days I now have left of the June holiday may be a couple of day trips instead ? Today I guess it will be beach hanging again, too hot today to sit in a car that lacks ac ?

Helena says:
Sorry to hear about the car! Hope it improves and you get to go on a road trip later!

Helena - Oh darling, let's be adventurers says:
I am one of those who clearly think that there is too much of a good thing with all this heat. Do not thrive at all when it is super hot. So I actually hope for at least 1-2 days now soon with lots of rain so that it will be more comfortable heat again. Can hardly sleep despite fans in the bedroom.
It sounds great with a long trip along the Göta Canal! You can let me know if you want any Motala tips. I myself will soon go north so I will probably not be here when you show up but otherwise it would have been fun to meet. Can also recommend stopping at Tiveden (as I saw that someone above also did) even though it may not be exactly at Göta Kanal, but still quite close.
Fun with the web shop too! Looking forward to seeing what products you will have there.
26 June 2020 - 13:24
Helena says:
I understand you about the heat. I feel the same way from time to time! There was someone else the other day who also recommended Motala ... Yes, do you perhaps have a blog post?

Mr Nils-Åke Hansson says:
The Göta Canal can and is awesome. We take it easy and enjoy being at home and fixing the house and garden. Birgitta doesn't like the heat - just enough is best. Drive out on weekends here in Skåne.

Helena says:
Sure, it can be tough when the heat is at its worst, but it doesn't usually last that long in this country. Have fun!

Fun with the visit of Robin and Alexandra. Perfect to sit on the deck and munch on tapas:-)
It will be exciting to see what products you will sell in your web shop, exciting!
There are a number of bloggers who have "done" the Göta Canal. I myself have not been there. No need, since so many people show pictures;-)
26 June 2020 - 22:12
Helena says:
Is that so? Well, then maybe there will be even more pictures from there this summer. Let's see if we can find something "new" 😉.

I think we know the Vättern-Vänern section of the Göta Canal by heart. ? If you live close by, great luck! We have written a lot about different places and especially Karlsborg and Tiveden I think. Link tips are on the page!
Go for it! ?

Thanks for the tip! Then we can look in and look! 🙂

Across the board says:
The Göta Canal is nice, there are many nice cycle paths. Then some parking spaces are very expensive down about 200 bucks for a lumpy grass / gravel site and no service. It is fortunate that there are different places to choose to spend the night... It will be fun to see what you think.
28 June 2020 - 11:43
Helena says:
Wow, that was expensive! Thanks for the warning, good to be prepared for what's coming!

Christina says:
The Göta Canal will be great! Are you going to visit both the östgötaside and the västgötaside? We have travelled and cycled on both sides and there is always a discussion about which side of Lake Vättern is the most beautiful? We often visit the places that are on the west side, ie between Karlsborg and Sjötorp, we live in the middle and are close. There are very many nice campsites along the road, then there are lots of culture, nature, history, nice coffee shops, flea markets and other fun things to do and look at, but the thing is above all to cycle along the canal. Someone recommended Tiveden and I can also really recommend it. Hikes, nice baths and nice sites. It will be fun to follow you and see which places and experiences become your favourites?
