What about travelling in autumn 2020? Where can you actually go, and do you dare? We will continue to make weekend trips in Sweden, but we are also planning a trip outside the country's borders. And we are really looking forward to that!
Advisory and the general situation
On 14 March, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs decided to advise against non-essential travel to all countries. We recognise that the world is changing and that nothing should be taken for granted. Yet we stared at those headlines for a ridiculously long time. Discourage non-essential travel to all countries. I can't believe it actually happened!
The COVID-19 situation in the world is still serious, but there has been a gradual easing of the advisory. Currently, there are 25 countries in Europe that the MFA does not advise against, and can therefore be considered for travelling to (although of course the situation and regulations in the country concerned must be taken into account).
For other EU, EEA and Schengen countries and the UK, the advice against non-essential travel is extended until 9 September. For all other countries in the world, the advisory is extended until 15 November.
Travelling in Sweden
Until quite recently, it was all about Sweden. We set our sights on Sweden during the summer and had some great trips along the Göta Canal, Trollhätte canal and Dalsland canal. Surprisingly nice and interesting indeed!
Now that autumn is here, we continue to make weekend trips with the motorhome. We have already visited Norrtälje and Grisslehamn, where we were given a guided tour on the Albert Engström Museum. We plan to continue with more campervan trips during the weekends, and when not in a campervan we might continue to discover museums and nature reserves in Stockholm.
Travelling in Europe
But aren't we keen on travelling in Europe? Actually, yes, we are. When we recently went on a cruise with Viking Line and at least touched at another country, we realised that we miss travelling outside the borders. And yes, we are actually planning a trip!
Soon it will be off to the beautiful Czech Republic for our part! We will be travelling by motorhome, which feels like the best way to travel right now. We will soon tell you more about our plans and of course we will, as usual, report on our experiences! We have also seen in Facebook groups that relatively many motorhome drivers are planning to roll south this autumn.
How do you think? Are you keen to travel? Do you have any travel plans? Is it still Sweden or are you planning to go beyond its borders?

Of course it's fun to travel, preferably to warmer countries when the cold comes!
But we are staying at home in these times, hopefully it will get better.
Take care.......

Great post and me and the owners are also keen to go abroad.
Know that the owners will have a week's holiday soon and then they are talking about going in northern Germany. Taking the bridges over and then staying close to the coast to be able to quickly return home if something happens.
Based on many different parameters, a motorhome is probably the best you can travel in and if the good owners keep their distance, we can hope that everything goes well.
Good luck with your planning for the Czech Republic!

Nice with Germany plans! 🙂 It feels nice to go in a motorhome and maybe also smart to not go too far, so you can return home if necessary. It is not possible to know if the situation changes.

Here we continue to spam at home, in fact we are out on tour right now. Driving and hotel camping feels safest, we think. Would love to go into France and beyond as well, but there is a wide band of outbreak sites in the northern parts of Spain, so we still avoid going in that direction.
It will be fun to see more of the Czech Republic via your blog 🙂 You can also travel online 😀.

Yes, I'm super hungry, it's really icy in my travel gut! But after the spring, summer and autumn cancelled trips abroad, we probably try to sit still in Sweden all year round... however sad it feels.

We sit in the motorhome far north and talk about how hungry we are for a trip at least down to Germany later this autumn. Travelling with a motorhome feels optimal, but everything changes so quickly so we look forward to it.

The safest way to travel is definitely by car or camper van. I think getting on an aeroplane is just stupid.
There are certainly many pensioners who want to travel south in the autumn, as they haven't been away since February this year and are looking forward to it as much as you are.
Personally, I would wait, because what if you don't get home and other countries close their borders, or you have to be quarantined when you get home. No, I am simply too cowardly.

I have no need to go on holiday but I do want to go home to my parents! I haven't seen them for 1.5 years now. But then it is not good that I get on a flight from Spain to go home. They have kept themselves in quarantine. The idea was to maybe go at Christmas but who knows how everything is then.
It is not easy.

Overwintering in Sweden perhaps?
You buy "long ice" hats/mittens and warm clothes. And put winter/double tyres on the motorhome and go on trips.
For example: Öland in winter. Imagine being able to experience the "bird" for real, what an adventure. And if the bridge closes, it feels a bit foreign.
Exp. You can complement the poles with skis. Skiing is also fun.
Exp. You can bury yourself in a "bivouac". Cool (if you survive).
Drinking hot mulled wine. Well, just to keep warm of course.
The only limit is your imagination.
To all motorhome drivers have a nice and cosy winter. Soon it will be spring and summer again.

Lovely with the Czech Republic trip. We had a safari trip booked to Tanzania in November and hoped to the last. But this week, as I said, we got help to make decisions about cancellation / rebooking. Let's see when it might work.
