Mount Praděd is located in the north-east of the Czech Republic and is 1492 metres high. We made it to the top and then went down on ... a scooter! This was a real adventure, we promise. In addition, it was a temperature shock. The day before we had +28 degrees and bright sunshine - at the top of the mountain we had +8 degrees, wind and heavy fog.

Koprivna Resort and Camping
We started by taking the campervan to Koprivna Resort and Camping located in Mala Moravka in the north-east of the Czech Republic. It has a hotel and a campsite, as well as a ski lift and various adventure activities. The resort is open in both the winter and summer seasons, when people go mountain biking down the slopes. Now in autumn it is low season and the campsite is really only open on weekends.

The resort is beautifully located and equipped with modern ski lifts, mountain bike hire and fresh toilets and showers.

Up to the top of Praděd Mountain
Mount Praděd is located in the Jeseniky Mountains, which belong to the Sudetes mountain range. We were offered a ride by car to the top, which we accepted as we didn't feel ready to hike all the way to the top at the moment.
Not just anyone can drive up the mountain, but you need a special licence. The first stretch up the mountain is also divided by time. Every hour vehicles go up and every half hour vehicles go down. A common practice among tourists is to take a bus ride up the first long section, and then hike the last bit up to the summit hut.

The first part was green and beautiful, and we had great views from the car windows. As we approached the top, we drove into a dense milk-white fog, so we couldn't even see a metre in front of us.

We got off outside the summit hut, and here it was not only foggy but also very cold, with hard and icy winds. Now the masks came in handy ... to keep your face warm!

The picture below shows what we saw of the building at the top. "There is a 73 metre high tower on top of the house", the guy who drove us told us. What? That was impossible to imagine.

We asked the local tourist office in the region for a photo to show what it looks like. actually. The picture below shows the same building, but in better weather, and from a different view of course.

Lunch in the summit hut on Mount Praděd
It was really nice to step into the warmth of the top cabin on Mount Praděd. We each ordered a meat soup with bread and two big strong ones. For this we had to pay 85 SEK, together. It is nice to go out and eat in the Czech Republic, because you really get a lot for your money. It was also delicious!

Down Mount Praděd on a scooter
Then it was time for the adventure of descending Mount Praděd on a scooter. We tightened our clothes as much as possible and started to carefully roll down through the fog. On the way we met many hikers on their way up.

If it was foggy and cold at the beginning of the trip, it became much more hospitable after a while. When we came out of the fog, it was green and beautiful, and also much warmer. We noticed that the area, which is a national park, is very popular. In addition to meeting many hikers, we saw a long line of hotels and restaurants along the way. It was a really cosy and pleasant trip!

After a while we came down to the place where the tourist buses stop. Here a stop sign tells you that you have to wait until half past midnight, then it's time for buses, cars and scooters to go down.

The last part of the mountain is also green and nice, and when we were down we rolled on the scooters until we reached the campsite.

Dinner at Hotel Koprivna
In the evening we decided to have dinner at the hotel, which is just above the campsite. The location is great and the hotel very nice, so show two photos from there even though we didn't stay at the hotel.

We went big and ordered a starter, main course, dessert and also coffee and whiskey. The food was really Good. For starters we ordered a toast with goat cheese, the main course was pork with potato cake and an absolutely divine sauce, and to finish we chose a bowl of fruit, ice cream and cream.

For the whole party, including strong beer and whiskey, we paid just over 400 Swedish kronor. It is not difficult to luxuriate a little extra in the Czech Republic if you say so!

Cosy towns in the area
We spent a night at the campsite and then drove on towards Poland. We chose to take small roads in the beginning, which meant that we rolled past some small charming holiday resorts. Really nice up here among the mountains!

High up on mountains and fells it can be windy and foggy. It was a wonderful adventure anyway 🙂

Good thing you had gloves with you. You must have been really cold up there. Not even warm thoughts helped;-) So nice that it immediately became warm and sunny again. It was certainly needed for the recovery.
The food looked really good. Meat soup is ideal when you want to warm yourself, internally that is.

Haha, what if we were so smart that we had gloves! 😉 No, unfortunately we did not. but I have some small part in the jacket sleeve that can be pulled forward over the hand and thread the thumb through, good in case of emergency! 🙂 The food was really delicious, and sooo affordable! 🙂

Yes, bad luck with the fog, but that happens sometimes when you get high up on mountains. At least it felt like a real adventure 😉.
