Fritidsbyn Kloten is beautifully situated in Bergslagen. We made a visit here this weekend with the motorhome, as we visited the couple who will soon take over Fritidsbyn. There was a tour of the beautiful area, and then it was free camping at the lake Stora Djurlången nearby.

The holiday village of Kloten in Bergslagen
Fritidsbyn Kloten is a holiday resort with 31 large cottages and 14 campsites. The resort is located in the nature conservation area Malingsbo Kloten, right next to the large and beautiful lake Långvattnet. There are many hiking trails in the area and the lake is perfect for fishing or trips by canoe or leisure boat.
The holiday village of Kloten is located at the village of Kloten in Bergslagen, about 20 kilometres east of Kopparberg and 60 kilometres north of Lindesberg.
Visiting Kloten
We visited Kloten because we recently got to know Tiziana, from the product development company Stilisti. Along with the company Pufz, our main partner for products in the web shops, we have hired Stilisti to develop new products for the spring (this is soooo exciting!).
It turns out that Tiziana and her husband have a farm in Kloten and have recently bought the Fritidsbyn Kloten. They haven't taken over yet, but they already have big plans for expansion and development, including building a caravan park. After much discussion during a long meeting, we agreed to come by with the campervan and have a look around.
Tour of the Leisure Village Kloten
The recreational village of Kloten is truly beautiful. The large lake is mirror-like and sometimes you can see a small boat or canoe out there. Here and there are small piers and beaches, and all around is green nature with paths and hiking trails.
Holiday village in Kloten
There is a large holiday village with 31 cabins with 5-8 beds. We got to look inside one of them and it looked really fresh and nice, with a little "mountain cabin feeling". Although the cabins are already nice, there are now plans to make them even more comfortable.
Camping at Fritidsbyn Kloten
There is also a small campsite with 14 pitches, which is popular with seasonal campers. It's not hard to understand why, because this is really a little gem with a beach, boat mooring and a barbecue area by the water.
The campsite will probably remain as it is, but in addition to this there are now plans for a caravan site, small hermitages and perhaps other interesting forms of accommodation. Tiziana and her husband also have many other exciting plans such as boat and bike hire and various sports and outdoor activities. This really has the potential to be a fantastic place for even more people to enjoy. The takeover will probably take place at the turn of the year so keep your eyes open a little further ahead!
Free camping at Stora Djurlången
After a long lovely lunch with Tiziana and her husband, we rolled on with the motorhome. There are lots of popular free camping sites in the area and we stopped at the lake Stora Djurlången. Here we stood fantastically nice with the lake and nature right next door.
It did not become less beautiful when the sun went down over the horizon, on the contrary. What a magical evening! Have you been to Kloten or somewhere else in Bergslagen? Please tell us!
Kenneth Risberg says:
Yes, Kloten is one of my home regions. I have often been there both in my spare time and in my job as a manager in Lindesberg municipality.
Kloten is very well known with its hiking trails (Bergslagsleden) and its fishing lakes, but clearly the holiday village and the camp school, located right at the entrance to Kloten when coming from the Kopparberg direction.
The holiday village can certainly be developed in many ways for hiking, fishing, cycling and camping.

Wonderful place. Our former neighbour in Vänersborg moved there a number of years ago and bought the old miner's house on the left at the entrance from Kopparberg. The view from the hill to the lake on both sides. Have visited a couple of times. Absolutely magical place.

The house after school? It's not a miner's house, is it?

When you talk about beautiful places, you should go to Nyberget.
A village along the Bergslag Trail between Stjärnors and Uskavi.
Also goes by car Guldsmedshyttan towards Stjärnfors, then left at the junction with the red stump.
This place is fabulous and there is also a hostel to stay in.
Dammsjön for swimming and lots of berries in the forest.
It is worth a visit.

Have been to Lindesberg and Kloten, but in Kloten, Switzerland.
The area you show is very nice and scenic. Pretty cool to buy a whole holiday village and at the same time have another job on the side.

Hello there!
They have been to the camp school during primary school several times. Have also been to a sports camp, with both fishing, canoe grilling and a lot of sports. Lots of fun memories and also made new friends for life there?
I hope and believe that the new ones can make it happen.... with all that it means to live and work in the Kloten/Kopparberg area!
It's a wonderful environment, a truly relaxing place.
Next time you're in the area, give us a shout, as the summer house is close by, with the possibility of overnight parking for motorhomes.
Soon we'll be heading south with the new car... again.... ....?
Take care of yourselves?

Helena says:
But it's great to hear that you're heading south with a motorhome! Where does it go? Wish you a nice trip! And thanks, we will keep that in mind next time we roll in that direction!

What a surprise. KLOTEN! My father went to the Forestry College in Kloten.
over 100 years ago (b. 1884) My brother-in-law also attended there; met my
sister, when he worked as an "apprentice" with my father.
I myself grew up in Bergslagen (Ludvika). It is a somewhat forgotten area in Dalarna.
The Siljans region is what you hear about, but I have to say that Bergslagen
is a very beautiful area. Countless beautiful lakes are surrounded by
beautiful pine and spruce forests.
Your photos make me homesick, especially the third one from the bottom. .
As we say: "WHEN THEY BLOW UP, I KNOW I'M HOME".
I can imagine that it will be a very nice holiday destination.
09 September 2020 - 6:34
Helena says:
But what fun!!! I wonder if we didn't see that forestry college? Is it a big beautiful house? Or is it next to the big beautiful house? We looked at Google Maps just when we went by and then it said something about a forestry college. And agree with you, very beautiful in the area!!!
09 September 2020 - 17:35
Catherine says:
The "big beautiful house" is probably the mansion.
The forestry school was located in what was once the station house. A large white stone building by the pond.

Well, oh. I stayed at the campsite there for a weekend and went hiking. I really liked that area. It was many years ago now, but I still think about it sometimes. It's great that it will be developed.
