Autumn is coming, and this is reflected in the press releases, including one about preparations for Halloween and another about extra trains for the Christmas holidays. In this week's travel news, we can also tell you about a new mini-caravan with a mini-kitchen, panoramic glass roof and stand-alone tent solution.

Kolmården invests heavily in this year's Halloween
On 17 October, Halloween at Kolmården opens for the ninth year in a row. This year, the park is investing heavily and offers visitors four new Halloween environments, more creatures roaming around the park and two brand new horror experiences for the most courageous visitors - Evil's Labyrinth and Revenge. Tickets go on sale on 1 September and must be pre-booked online. There are only a limited number of seats available per day to ensure distance management in the park.
New Caddy California with mini kitchen, panoramic glass roof and new tent solution
Volkswagen Transportbilar is now showing the new Caddy California for the first time. The model has been redesigned from scratch and is based on the all-new Caddy generation 5. A new unique detail is the pull-out kitchen unit, which allows the model to be classified as a motorhome. The unit pulls out from the tailgate and contains the cooker and storage for kitchen equipment. A new option for Caddy 5 and the new Caddy California is a large panoramic glass roof. The new larger tent solution turns the car into a camping car for the whole family.
More night trains to Jämtland for the Christmas and New Year holidays
Due to high demand for train journeys to the mountains, Snälltåget is introducing more night trains to Åre during the Christmas, New Year and 13th weekends. "Several of our night trains to Åre are already sold out and we have therefore decided to increase capacity by adding more departures between Malmö and Åre", says Marco Andersson, Marketing Manager for Snälltåget. From Malmö to Åre there will be four new departures on 19/12, 26/12, 2/1 and 9/1 and from Åre to Malmö on 20/12, 27/12, 3/1 and 10/1. The trains will also stop in Lund and Hässleholm and then go directly to Åre and Duved.
Camping centre emerges outside Hemavan
In Umfors, outside Hemavan, a campsite with 84 pitches for caravans and motorhomes is emerging. The campsite is beautifully situated and is equipped with technology for maximum service and energy efficiency. Umfors Camping is a venture undertaken by the couple Anna and Ludvig Segerstedt, who for many years have run a border trade with a shop in Umfors. "We expect everything to be ready by the end of September. Since the Norwegian market is important to us, we hope that the pandemic fades away so that people can travel freely across the border again," says Ludvig Segerstedt.
Finnish travel fair Matka moves from January to May 2021
The Matka Nordic Travel Fair, Northern Europe's largest travel fair, was due to be held in January 2021 but has been postponed until May. Due to the coronavirus situation and current regulations, it is deemed impossible to create an international coronavirus-safe event in January. The new date for the fair will be 19-23 May 2021.
Reflection of the week
It's fun to come up with creative solutions for different caravans. Personally, we'd probably find it hard to fit into anything smaller than a flatbed, but there should be something for everyone. The Caddy California may feel like a mix of motorhome and tent life.

BP says:
Caddy California - well, then I think of these divisible Russian dolls. For a tent, then a smaller tent. But I still have to sleep on an air mattress on the ground - well!
Hemavan's timing to open such a large campsite is not the best directly. Wish them really good luck!

Camping has generally been good this year, but if you are dependent on Norwegian tourists, it is of course more difficult.
