We have tried canoeing in Wroclaw, Poland. What an amazing experience! Sometimes our lives are a bit fast-paced, but during this hour we felt like we were slowing down and enjoying the view and perhaps the last of the summer heat. A wonderful way to experience Wroclaw!

Wroclaw in Poland
Wroclaw is Poland's fourth largest city, and is another stunningly beautiful and historically interesting Polish city. We recently visited Torun and Poznan and were mesmerised by these fine gems. Wroclaw is definitely not inferior, with an amazingly beautiful square and many impressive buildings. Right now it was also high pressure and summer feeling, even though it is September.
Wroclaw is located in south-west Poland, about 18 miles south of Poznan.
Guided tour and lunch in Wroclaw
We are travelling with our motorhome through Poland on our way to the Czech Republic. Being the travel bloggers we are, we contacted the Polish state tourist office before the trip to see if they could help us with guides in the different Polish cities.
We find that guides are great when we want to learn a lot about a city and write good reports. We have received help with this, and also in Wroclaw we went on a tour with a guide. It was very interesting and we will soon tell you more about everything we saw and experienced.
When we finished the tour and it was time for lunch, we had a surprise visit from Alfred from the Wroclaw tourist office (behind the camera in the picture below). We had a very nice (and delicious!) lunch at the restaurant Pod Fredra, and then Alfred spontaneously suggested that we go canoeing in Wroclaw. Yes, but why not?
Canoeing in Wroclaw
We took our electric bikes and Alfred rented a scooter, and we drove to the nearest canoe rental where Alfred's girlfriend Agnieszka met us. After a few minutes of queuing (what great summer weather!) we jumped into the canoes and paddled away.
When canoeing in Wroclaw from this very spot, you first paddle to the right under a bridge, and then you can choose between the large waterway straight ahead or a slightly narrower and greener path to the side. We chose the latter.
Here it was quiet and peaceful and we paddled for quite some time next to a large swan family with 9 (!) chicks. We were in no hurry at all, just enjoying the summer heat and being on the water.
Sometimes it gets a bit stressful during our travels because we want to do so much, so this was really relaxing and nice. Just what we needed! Many thanks for a nice trip and great company!
What do you need to know if you want to canoe in Wroclaw?
There are several places that rent canoes and other small boats in Wroclaw. We rented at one of the most centrally located places, and this place is right next to the National Museum in Wroclaw. The price was 20 zloty/person for one hour of canoe rental, which at today's exchange rate corresponds to about 47 Swedish kronor.
More to see and do in Wroclaw
There is of course much more to see and do in Wroclaw, and we plan to write a more comprehensive report when we get home. There are lots of beautiful buildings, interesting sights, exciting museums and beautiful parks. Wroclaw is also famous for the hundreds of dwarfs (nobody knows how many there are!) that are lined up around the city.
Stay with your motorhome in Wroclaw
We often use the CamperContact app and first looked for a central car park in town, but this one was totally full. When we saw that not even tiny cars could find parking spaces in the city, we gave up and drove to the campsite Stadion Olimpijski no. 117. There was plenty of space and all the services we needed. The staff was also nice and spoke good English. To get into town, we took our electric bikes and followed the GPS on our mobile phones, and it worked great!

What a good suggestion he made. Canoeing is so wonderful, I think. Doing it in the city like that seems to be a great way to see the city from a different angle.
