We have visited Pustevny and Stezka Valaska, which means we have walked on a beautiful treetop railway in the Czech Republic. Wonderful nature, beautiful buildings and amazing views. What more can you ask for?

To Pustevny and the treetop course in the Czech Republic
We got to Pustevny with the help of a motorhome and GPS. However, if you want to get to the lift, you should not set the GPS to "Pustevny" but to "Trojanovice 210". This way you get directly to the tourist information in the area, where you can get both help and brochures. The lift is a very short drive from here.

Pustevny is located in the Beskids mountain range, in the eastern part of the Czech Republic.
Lift up the mountain
You can get to the mountain by chairlift, which is of course the easiest and most convenient way. You simply buy a ticket at the foot of the lift and go up. If you are not afraid of heights (which I, Helena, am), you can certainly enjoy the nice view along the way. You can probably see in the picture who is enjoying and who is holding on tightly ...

When you step off the lift you can read that you are at 1020 metres above sea level. There is a modern restaurant building with a fantastic view down the mountain.

Pustevny hill
Up on Pustevny hill there is also a series of beautiful and very special houses. We don't know the story behind them, but it's a charming setting. You also notice that this place is very popular among the Czechs. Many people were strolling around or sitting on the outdoor terraces in the sun.

As you walk on, you can go in different directions. Many walked, like us, towards Stezka Valaska where you can find a treetop track in the Czech Republic. On the way here we passed, in addition to beautiful nature, an exhibition of sand sculptures and some smaller tracks for playful children.

Stezka Valaska - treetop course in the Czech Republic
Then we arrived at Stezka Valaska, where you find this treetop track in the Czech Republic. It almost looked like an entrance, but we didn't have to pay anything to pass here.

We continued on a beautiful treetop course that even I (being afraid of heights) appreciated a lot. After a while you could choose between a rope bridge and a stable wooden bridge. Which one did I choose? The stable one of course!

After a while you arrive at the spectacular building, which stands in such a way that you have a fantastic view. I (Helena, who is afraid of heights) went halfway up, and there I appreciated the view very much!

As well as having a lovely view, there are a number of things to do for playful children and young people. For example, in the centre of the whole structure there is a trampoline!

Peter walked all the way up, and waved to me standing below.

If you want, you can go out onto the far glass walkway (to take a selfie, perhaps?). There was no such thing for us (for obvious reasons) so you will have to make do with a picture of another couple at the end of the aisle.

To see the view, however, you don't have to stand on that (unpleasant) glass walkway. The view is everywhere and all around. Fantastic!

See more in the neighbourhood
After our visit to this treetop railway in the Czech Republic, we moved on to Wallachian Open Air Museum (Valašské muzeum v přírodě) This museum (called Skansen!) displays Czech buildings that are 150 years old or more. Some are original and some are replicas, and all are decorated. A surprisingly nice and interesting museum, which we'll tell you more about soon.
Not too far away, you can also visit the cosy little resort of Stramberk, as well as the cities Ostrava and Olomouc. In Ostrava, for example, you can visit the old industrial area. Dolni Vitkovice, very interesting!

Campsites in the neighbourhood
There are several campsites nearby, including Camp Roznov and Camp Solanec. We did not stay at any of the closest ones, but stayed overnight at Camp u Kateriny in Stramberk. There are nice places for motorhomes and they are also modernising with new fresh cabins. The campsite is especially perfect if you want to visit the lovely little town of Stramberk.

What cool and not least odd buildings and totally different shapes and styles. I really like it! You were also lucky with the weather. I wonder if there is a ski area during the winter. The lifts are there.
A really delicious post:-)
