Now Tallink Silja opens up for cultural events again with Galaxy Seated - Dinner & Show - a new and customised concert concept. First out is Eric Gadd, The Mamas, Lina Hedlund and John Lundvik who, together with live bands, gather for sixteen concerts during eight cruises on board Silja Galaxy starting 16 October. For the concert, all guests book their own table in advance. To avoid crowding, there are security guards, and two concerts are held per evening with a limited number of seats.

Viking Line launches new year cruises with Rosella and Cinderella

On 7 October, Viking Line released the tickets for no less than two New Year's cruises for the Swedish public. Demand is high at the same time as the shipping company, according to its covid-19 verification, can only receive half as many travellers per vessel as normal. For this year's New Year celebrations, the shipping company has therefore doubled the travel opportunities. For the first time ever, New Year's cruises are offered with both Viking Cinderella and Rosella.

  • Rosella: Departure from Kapellskär on New Year's Eve 15:45. The cruise includes a welcome drink, party buffet and live music.
  • Cinderella: Departs from Stadsgårdskajen on New Year's Eve at 15:00. The package includes a festive meal, brunch and a New Year's concert with the Cotton Club. T

First Camp introduces low-cost calendar

As the first major camping operator in the world, First Camp is launching a brand new online feature to make it easier for guests to find low prices. Now it is the world premiere of First Camp's low price calendar, where you can easily see which dates and destinations have the lowest prices. The function is available for 36 of First Camp's destinations in Sweden. "Because we are a large chain, we have the resources to constantly improve our website to make camping life even better and easier for our guests," says First Camp's CEO Johan Söör.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has lifted the advice against travelling to Malta and Slovenia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has lifted the advice against non-essential travel to Malta The assessment takes into account the easing of restrictions for Swedish travellers. Slovenia no longer requires quarantine for Swedes and Malta has lifted the previous entry ban for travellers from Sweden.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has lifted the advice against non-essential travel to several countries in Europe, but this does not mean that the situation is back to normal. Local regulations affecting Swedish travellers can be reintroduced at short notice if the situation changes. Regardless of where you are travelling, a great deal of responsibility rests with the individual traveller. You can access the embassies' travel information on swedenabroad.se and in the app UD Resklar.

What private travellers want in a COVID-19 world

The company Amadeus asked more than 8,500 CheckMyTrip users, from forty countries around the world who travelled for leisure at least once in the 90 days before the COVID-19 restrictions, for their opinions. Here are some results from the survey:

  • Travellers want the opportunity to travel the world. Almost 3/4 want to travel within three months after COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
  • Detailed information is important. 66 % say information on COVID-19 prevention measures is "very important" to know before booking a hotel and 62% say the same for air travel.
  • Disaster plans are no longer optional. At least 1/3 say they seek more travel insurance cover than before COVID-19.
  • Travel agencies are far from being passé. 70% were interested in customised travel experiences, recommended by travel agents or designed by themselves.

Reflection of the week

Cruise companies are going all out now, it seems. Our experience, after a cruise with Viking Line in August, is that it can work well with social distance on a cruise. In addition, it was extra fun to cruise now that you are not so spoilt with travel!
