Events with info and inspiration from Salzburgerland

So we were invited to an event in Stockholm, where the Salzburgerland region told us about the 2020/2021 winter season. In the photo you see representatives of different ski destinations in the region and the Swedish blogger Brinken bakes, who were there to showcase Austrian pastries and let us participate in a Mozartkule workshop.

Skiing in Austria 2020/2021 - what about COVID-19?

We have received information about what applies to covid-19 in Salzburgerland in the winter of 2020/2021. Swedish guests are now welcomed (no quarantine and no requirement for a negative corona test) and many measures have also been taken to reduce the spread of infection with e.g. distance in lift queues, hand sanitizer, disinfection of lifts and different evening activities. Currently, there is also a requirement to wear face masks indoors, e.g. in hotel lobbies, shops, restaurants (except at the table) and in public transport.

To Salzburgerland by car, plane... or train

You can of course get to Salzburgerland by car, or you can fly to Salzburg. Another option, which was presented at the event, is to get to the ski destinations with the Snälltåget train. A new feature this year is that you can take the directly with Snälltåget to Austria. Trains run from Malmö for accommodation in weeks 6-9 and directly from Stockholm for accommodation in week 9. You book a whole compartment for up to 6 people.

Austrian pastries

During the event, we were treated to three Austrian pastries: apfelstrudel, sacher cake and another pastry that we can't remember the name of. All had been baked by the Swedish baking blogger Brinken bakar. This was accompanied by glühwein and then a white hot drink that was fruity. Need we say that it was delicious? Austria is not only skiing but also good food and drink!

Workshop - making white "Snömozart balls" á la Austria

Not only did we get to taste Austrian baked goods. We also got to try them ourselves! What were we going to make? Mozart balls in white snow, Salzburg style. We were first equipped with a tray of marzipan, nougat and plastic gloves.

They had to roll up balls, which were then dipped in white chocolate, and finally rolled in coconut. Peter and Maria, a journalist from the Swedish Tourist Journalists, went all in on the task.

How did we do it? No, but it wasn't that bad! Since we were already satisfied with sweets, we packed the little "snowballs" in bags and took them home. Nothing wrong with that doggy bag!
