It's November and time for the first travel news of the month. The spread of COVID-19 is increasing across Europe, which of course affects travel in different ways. Nevertheless, various press releases are issued every week.

SJ extends metropolitan traffic on weekends
SJ is strengthening its weekend services on the Stockholm-Malmö and Stockholm-Gothenburg routes. This means an increase in weekend traffic by 15 per cent, which corresponds to just over 5,000 new bookable seats every weekend from 9 November. This is to meet increased demand among leisure travellers. There are still plenty of seats available for those who are able to travel from Monday to Thursday.
First Camp is now Sweden's largest booking channel for camping.
Sweden's largest camping chain First Camp now also has Sweden's largest booking channel for camping, in terms of number of visitors. In 2020, the number of visitors to the site is expected to be well over 3 million. On firstcamp.se you can book camping accommodation at the company's 44 destinations, 39 of which are in Sweden.
The functionality of the site has been continuously expanded, including the launch of a low-cost calendar. Three years ago, around 12 per cent of the company's bookings were made online, but that figure is now around 40 per cent. The online booking for 2021 has already opened.

Europe is closing more and more
The spread of COVID-19 is increasing across Europe. Many countries are introducing various restrictions to limit the spread of the virus, and in recent days, new restrictions have been announced in Portugal, Greece, the UK and Austria.
This could be the closure of restaurants and bars, a ban on unnecessary shopping, a curfew at certain times, or people being asked to stay at home except for work and other necessary errands. The situation changes from day to day, and if you are planning to travel in Europe, it is important to stay updated on the current situation.
TUI reports that corona measures are producing results
According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the risk of contracting the coronavirus during air travel is extremely low. TUI has looked at the risk of infection over the entire journey, including the hotel stay. Since the start of the pandemic, it has had 2.1 million travellers from different countries and of these, only 163 have been confirmed to be infected during travel and hotel stays. This is less than half a case (0.49) per 100,000 travellers over a 7-day period.
To ensure safety while travelling, requirements include face masks, deep cleaning of flights between departures and HEPA filters that clean the air to hospital standards.
Reflection of the week
The spread of infection is increasing again and it's really tough for the travel industry. Personally, we are inspired by lots of destinations and look forward to travelling again. However, due to the situation, we are staying in Sweden for now.

Ama de casa says:
We are now only allowed to move freely within the Valencia region, but the authorities advise everyone to avoid unnecessary travel. Now I think there are no unnecessary trips, but I get it and we stay at home now. I feel particularly sorry for the hotel industry now, if everyone stays at home, they don't need to stay in hotels...
DUMB shit virus!

Yes, it must be incredibly tough for many in the travel industry. Even if you managed to make it through the spring, how many will make it through this autumn on top of it?

Right now, travelling does not feel optimal. Restrictions change from day to day, so it's hard to know what will happen.

You travelled at just the right time to Poland and the Czech Republic. Right now, you probably don't want to go abroad. A great pity for the travel industry and all the companies that have really done their best to "corona-proof" aircraft and hotels.

Helena says:
Yes, it really felt like that! It felt completely ok to travel with a motorhome at that time, the situation was quite calm, but now it is increasing everywhere and then the situation is different.
