The autumn storms are here! The houseboat is rocking, but it's not all bad. We've completed a move, we're getting used to our new eating habits and we've received a parcel from Israel. Happy Friday!

Autumn storms
Now the autumn storms have arrived! The night before last there was a lot of rocking, and we slept a bit uneasily. After breakfast we went back to bed because we felt slightly sick. Seasickness? In that case, I think it was the first time ever in the houseboat. Yesterday Peter looked over the moorings and tightened them a bit more. At the same time, a swan struggled past, against the wind, on its way out of the marina.
When the swan approached the outlet, it changed its mind and swam back. Full understanding of this reasonable decision! It was windy enough here in the marina.
Food experiences
If you follow our blog, you'll know that we recently started the new eating habitspartly for better health in general, but also to lose weight. At first it felt boring, but now we've discovered that we can cook a lot of good things, and if we're really low-calorie, we can even fit in a glass of wine! Cauliflower by the way, wow! Both delicious and very low-calorie.
Parcels from Israel
A few weeks ago, the annual industry travel trade fair Travel News Market have taken place. The fair was cancelled, for understandable reasons, but some of the destinations we booked a meeting with contacted us anyway. Including the Israeli tourist office, which sent a package! Small things that feel extra fun in these dark and boring times!
What was in the package? Some small inspirational brochures, fridge magnets, pens and sweets (which we shouldn't eat now, haha...). We remember our trip to Israel with great pleasure. It was extremely powerful to visit Jerusalem, and it was also great to swim in the Dead Sea and visit Qumranwhere the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. On another visit we would like to see Tel Aviv and the northern parts of the country.
Most interesting among the treats was a piece of 'halva'. This pastry is found in several different countries in Western Asia, the Balkans and some parts of the Mediterranean region. The recipes may vary, but from what we understand they include tahini and often sesame seed oil. We have heard about it several times, but never actually tasted it before, so that was interesting. Now half is not exactly low-calorie, so we only tasted a small piece, but very good!
Best this week
The best part of this week is that we were able to help my (Helena's) mum. with her move. It also feels good that we have started new good eating habits, and that it feels realistic to keep them. What can you highlight as positive from your week?
The week ahead
This week we will probably help my mum further with the move, and Peter has also planned to go up to his mum to help her, together with his brother. For the weekend we have planned a blog post about, among other things Belgian beer, which we have worked a lot on.

"Autumn has come, hear the storms howl.
The swan says goodbye and the swallows take flight.
The flower has made its grave in the moss.
The roads roar on the wild sea......
It was sung in the ice school "in my time".

I wish I could give up cheese, but that's not possible.

Eva/Living like Eva says:
"Halva" became a favourite when I visited Tel Aviv, but like many other things, it didn't taste quite as good to eat at home in Sweden 🙂 ).
I am also in need of tightening up, so I enjoy fried kale in the evenings, as a snack!

Helena says:
That's how it can really be, that you don't get the same experience at home as "on site". I recognise this from other things! Kale can be very good, thanks for the tips! 🙂

Travel Friday / Annika says:
Yes, that autumn storm caused a huge crack in the front window of our car. Must have flown down a branch during the night. Sad, but yes - it could have been worse... Have a nice weekend!

How quickly time flies when the calendar is empty and socialising is non-existent.

Yes, you have the best thing left in Israel - Tel Aviv! You will love this wonderful city. The holiday in Tel Aviv was probably one of the best, if not the best we have had.
How sweet of you to be there for your mums. I bet they appreciate all your help.

Helena says:

Lena - good for the soul says:
It was really windy the other day. A large tree had blown over the road on the way to work. Fortunately, they had time to cut and remove the tree, but there were long queues. Terrible thought if you had driven into the tree in the dark!
And for you it will be extra tangible with all the weather that is offered 🙂 .

Helena says:
Good that they had time to remove the tree! Yes, trees can cause a lot of trouble in a storm ...!
