Autumn storms

Now the autumn storms have arrived! The night before last there was a lot of rocking, and we slept a bit uneasily. After breakfast we went back to bed because we felt slightly sick. Seasickness? In that case, I think it was the first time ever in the houseboat. Yesterday Peter looked over the moorings and tightened them a bit more. At the same time, a swan struggled past, against the wind, on its way out of the marina.

When the swan approached the outlet, it changed its mind and swam back. Full understanding of this reasonable decision! It was windy enough here in the marina.

Food experiences

If you follow our blog, you'll know that we recently started the new eating habitspartly for better health in general, but also to lose weight. At first it felt boring, but now we've discovered that we can cook a lot of good things, and if we're really low-calorie, we can even fit in a glass of wine! Cauliflower by the way, wow! Both delicious and very low-calorie.

Parcels from Israel

A few weeks ago, the annual industry travel trade fair Travel News Market have taken place. The fair was cancelled, for understandable reasons, but some of the destinations we booked a meeting with contacted us anyway. Including the Israeli tourist office, which sent a package! Small things that feel extra fun in these dark and boring times!

What was in the package? Some small inspirational brochures, fridge magnets, pens and sweets (which we shouldn't eat now, haha...). We remember our trip to Israel with great pleasure. It was extremely powerful to visit Jerusalem, and it was also great to swim in the Dead Sea and visit Qumranwhere the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. On another visit we would like to see Tel Aviv and the northern parts of the country.

Most interesting among the treats was a piece of 'halva'. This pastry is found in several different countries in Western Asia, the Balkans and some parts of the Mediterranean region. The recipes may vary, but from what we understand they include tahini and often sesame seed oil. We have heard about it several times, but never actually tasted it before, so that was interesting. Now half is not exactly low-calorie, so we only tasted a small piece, but very good!

Best this week

The best part of this week is that we were able to help my (Helena's) mum. with her move. It also feels good that we have started new good eating habits, and that it feels realistic to keep them. What can you highlight as positive from your week?

The week ahead

This week we will probably help my mum further with the move, and Peter has also planned to go up to his mum to help her, together with his brother. For the weekend we have planned a blog post about, among other things Belgian beer, which we have worked a lot on.
