A beautiful Christmas Eve, wonderful sunshine and lovely 3-course dinners. No, we really can't complain. We hope you also have a nice Christmas and some sunshine! Today we're just giving you a sneak peek of our dinners. Soon we can tell you more!
Table of contents
When living in a houseboat ...
... you never know what's on your doorstep. Sometimes the heron comes by and cracks his "ancient laughter" and other days we see the big black birds (don't know what they are called?) swallowing large whole perch. Or there is simply a large work boat outside the entrance. You never know what to expect!
Camping wine
This week, Peter found a red wine that he thought would be suitable for us (or at least for him, as I don't drink red wine because of my migraine). The wine is called "Camp" and comes from Chile. Quite ok, although it may not be one of the favourites. A little fun anyway!
Christmas decorations in the neighbourhood
Many of the houseboats around us have been decorated with fairy lights. However, our favourite decorations have been seen at Huvudsta farm in Solna. Charming, isn't it?
Christmas gift from the Czech Republic
Just before Christmas, we received a package from the Czech Tourist Board, with whom we have a very good co-operation. What a lovely package of delicacies! It was not easy to understand the contents of the different jars, as it is only written in Czech, but we think they contain oil, tinned fish (of some kind), almond cream and apricot jam. In addition, the package contained chocolate, a nice Christmas bauble and a restaurant guide to the Czech Republic. Prague. Cosy!
Sun at last
Such a long time with grey weather and darkness. How fantastic it was to wake up on Christmas Eve and see the sun's rays coming through. We (like many others!) went on a Christmas Eve walk. Outside Karlberg Castle, many people had sat down to enjoy the sun.
Even on the way back from the city, the light was beautiful. So nice when the houses are reflected in Karlbergssjön and Karlbergskanalen!
Luxury 3-course dinners
This Christmas, we have decided to ignore the traditional Christmas dinner and experimenting with different 3-course dinners, especially focusing on seafood. We have spent a lot of time looking for ingredients in different shops, and now we spend a lot of time in the kitchen. Fun and exciting! And of course, we will soon report on our experiences!
Best this week
The best thing this week is that we have decided to cook extra luxurious food, making Christmas a fun project. It will also be fun to meet Peter's two sons! What has been the best part of your week?
The week ahead
In the coming week there will probably be a lot about food here at FREEDOMtravel (think lobster and mussels). We will also present a fun post in collaboration with the German Tourist Board. The post is about places in Germany that are reminiscent of completely different locations. Don't miss it!

What wonderfully beautiful views! Really Christmassy in the nice weather we had yesterday. Good thing you took the walk on Christmas Eve, it would have been less fun in the snowstorm today. Guess you indulged in luxury food even today. If so, it was the best you could do in that weather.
Your starter with scallops - MUMS!!!!

Checking in and wishing you a happy holiday season!
Have now heard several people I know who have skipped the Christmas meal this year and run three courses instead, exciting with new thinking around Christmas!
Keep up the good work!
Hugs

I like it when Christmas decorations are placed where you don't think they should be.
Lovely food gift, always welcome.
It will be interesting to see what the "Christmas food" turned out to be.
Good luck!
