Swedes' mobile phone habits have changed during the year, and we have apparently made more calls and surfed more than usual. You can read more about who used their mobile phones the most below. Today we can also tell you that Scandinavia's largest camping chain, First Camp, is acquiring its first campsite on Öland.

SJ takes over Krösa train traffic
SJ will take over the task of operating the Krösa trains, with traffic starting on 12 December 2021. This was announced by the regional traffic authorities for the Krösa trains last week. The agreement covers planning and operation of the Krösatåg traffic, on-board service, maintenance and operation of two depots. The agreement extends over 12 years. Krösatågen is a co-operation between the county transport companies in Sweden. Jönköping, squid, Halland, Blekinge, Kronoberg and Skåne and includes ten lines under the Krösatågen and Kustpilen brands.
First Camp enters Öland
Scandinavia's largest camping chain First Camp continues to grow and takes over Löttorp campsite on Öland at the turn of the year. This will be First Camp's first destination on Öland. First Camp has grown significantly in recent years and currently has 43 camping destinations, 38 of which are in Sweden. The chain has destinations all over the country, but Öland has been a white spot on the First Camp map. When First Camp takes over Löttorp's campsite at the turn of the year, it will be the chain's 44th destination.
Tallink cancels route to Tallinn and Riga
Tallink Grupp announced last week that it will suspend the operation of the vessel Victoria I on the Tallinn-Stockholm-Riga-Stockholm-Tallinn route from 1 January 2021 until further notice. The vessel will continue to operate on the Tallinn-Helsinki route on weekends. This decision has been taken because the vessel's operations between EstoniaSweden and Latvia have become economically unsustainable during the current pandemic due to existing travel restrictions.

Swedes have made more mobile phone calls than ever before in 2020
During the year, mobile surfing has reached new heights and we have made significantly more calls than before. Data use in the mobile network has increased by 42 per cent and phone calls have increased by 27 per cent. Here are some more insights from Telenor's annual chronicle, which is based on surfing data from over one million Swedish mobile customers in 2020:
- People aged 41-50 have surfed the most this year.
- Seniors (61-70 years and 70+) increased their mobile internet usage the most (45%).
- Blekinge has the most mobile phone surfing per capita, and Västerbotten has the least.
- Swedes surfed 16% more in the spring than in the autumn.
- Blekinge residents make by far the most calls per capita and Västerbotten, Västernorrland and Norrbotten the least.
- International calls to Finland have increased (about 40,000 more calls than in 2019).
Reflection of the week
Perhaps it's not surprising that we have made more calls and surfed more this year, when it has often been difficult to meet in person. It also feels positive that the older part of the population has taken advantage of the digital opportunities. But we don't really know why there are more calls and surfs in Blekinge than in Norrland?

Video calls must have increased tremendously in this pandemic too 😀.
It has been my saviour several times over. Got a glimpse of the little grandchildren yesterday, they are a bit shy in the video, we have not seen each other for almost a year.
The statistics were a bit funny to see, but maybe that's the truth.
Digital is going strong.
Happy Monday, Gerd

You must be right, video calls have probably increased a lot! At least for me 😉 It's fantastic to have these digital solutions when physical meetings have not been possible!!!

I think many older people have had to embrace "technology" if they wanted to keep in touch with their children and grandchildren during the pandemic. Only positive, I think.
It's funny about Blekinge and Norrland, but have you noticed that northerners talk much less IRL and are more "short" than people living in southern Sweden. There you have the simple explanation;-)

Helena says:
Yes, I think just like you that many have been "forced". But lucky that the digital opportunities existed, when you could not meet in other ways!!! And haha, I did not even think of that, maybe it's as simple as us talking a little differently 😉.

At Löttorps Camping we started our caravanning life in 1974 and we stayed every summer until the summer of 1998. We wanted to go to other places, but then the children said, you go and we'll go to Löttorp. So we did and we really enjoyed it.
