Tighter restrictions in several countries

After the Christmas and New Year holidays, when people may have been together more than usual, many countries are worried about the spread of infection and many have introduced stricter restrictions. France have a curfew between 20:00 and 06:00, and in some regions the curfew starts at 18:00. The Greek authorities have decided to extend the lockdown until 18 January 2021. In several countries, police have had to intervene to disperse crowds and break up parties.

SkiStar introduces new precautions

The Swedish Parliament recently adopted a so-called pandemic law. As far as SkiStar is concerned, the operation of the ski resorts and outdoor environments is not currently affected and will remain open as usual with good snow conditions on the slopes. However, there will be some consequences for some indoor environments. Above all, this means that all warming huts will be closed, except for huts with catering.

MTRX most punctual between Stockholm and Gothenburg in 2020

MTRX was again the most punctual on the route between Stockholm and Gothenburg for the full year 2020, this year with a record punctuality of 91 per cent. The fact that MTRX is consistently the most punctual operator on the route is something that is clearly appreciated by both private and business travellers in the company's customer survey. The comparison applies to MTRX and SJ's express trains and the airline SAS, which are the companies that have operated the route without interruption throughout the year.

First Camp is investing heavily in the 2021 season

The camping chain First Camp is investing heavily for the 2021 season. Just before the turn of the year, the acquisition of Frigård camping in southern Jutland in Denmark was signed, which becomes the chain's 45th destination. In addition, major investments are being made in the chain's other campsites. In total, the investments amount to approximately SEK 130 million. First Camp was negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, but the effects are significantly less than for many other players in the travel industry. First Camp's turnover for 2020 is expected to be 15 to 20 per cent lower than in 2019.

Pater Noster on the list of the best hotels in the world this decade

The rain of awards and international attention for Pater Noster's newly refurbished hotel on Hamneskär in the waters off Marstrand continues. At the turn of the year, The Telegraph named Pater Noster the most exciting new accommodation of 2020. In the summer of 2020, Pater Noster's new owners opened the old lighthouse keeper's residence, which had been abandoned since 1977. With the help of the Gothenburg design agency Stylt, the residence has been decorated as if it were still inhabited.

reflection of the week

The camping industry seems to be doing pretty well through the pandemic, which is a small bright spot in all the misery. And that hotel looks delicious! We remember when we lived in a lighthouse in Norway, super cosy!
