Happy Friday! As I write this post, it's the last day of 2020, and by the time you read it, 2021 will have begun. We offer you some photos and events from our week. We also hope - although nothing will change in a flash - that the situation in the world will get better this year!

Christmas celebrations with Peter's sons

This Christmas we wanted to spend time with as few people as possible, but it is difficult not to see any family members at all. We met both of Peter's sons with their respective, on different days. Fantastic fun and enjoyable! The youngest son, Billie, came to visit us in the houseboat with their 6 month old miniature poodle Nora. And so incredibly cute (and nervous most of the time). We definitely don't have time to have a dog, but we've happily signed up to be dog sitters!

Long walks

What can you do these days? We walk and walk and walk. It's necessary, not least because we've been eating a lot of good food over the weekends. We aim for around 12,000 steps per day. Sometimes we go towards Sundbyberg or Bromma, sometimes towards Kungsholmen or Stockholm City.

Cooking marathon

Our main focus these days is cooking! You don't want to meet too many people and you can't travel. What can you do? We (almost) avoided Christmas food and instead cooked luxurious meals. 3-course dinners with lots of seafood. It was really fun to botanise in recipes and at the same time take photos and write for the blog!

Planning for New Year celebrations

We also met up with our friends Lennart and Beata, who we haven't seen for a long time (and who, incidentally, have already had that annoying infection that starts with a C). We met at a pub in Sumpan (where it is not crowded) to plan the New Year's menu. We had no idea where it would all go, but we ended up deciding on a lot of small dishes and no main course. We will of course come back with a report!

Rice and praise

When you have a (somewhat) large blog, you have to endure a lot of praise and criticism. We regularly receive both whining and nice comments. The nice comments are much more frequent, but the whiny ones take a ridiculous amount of energy. Of course, constructive criticism is good too (it can be very valuable!), but it doesn't always have a constructive purpose. What we want to say is that the nice comments are very warm and mean a lot to us. Two from the week:

Your blog is wonderful, I have travelled a lot during the weekend. (-) When you stop dreaming, you die a little. Thank you for writing so much!

We will test several of your tips when Covid has disappeared or when we have been vaccinated. Very nice blog post that we thank you for.

Best this week

The best part of the week was meeting the sons, and of course all the amazing food we cooked! What has been the best part of your week?

The week ahead

In a way, it feels a bit heavy after all the weekends. It's still grey and dreary outside, and there are no trips to look forward to yet. Men It's a new year and we have left the 2020 pandemic year behind us. What could be better?
