Which motorhome model to choose?
Which motorhome model to choose? And which motorhome models are there? We list 8 different models. Please note that there are also many different brands. This is just a matter of which model fits and that can be a good start, right?
1. Semi-integrated motorhome - perhaps the most common motorhome model
Semi-integrated motorhomes are perhaps the most common motorhome model in Sweden. As the name suggests, the motorhome consists of two parts, a driver and a body. The driver's section and chassis are original, for example from Fiat, and the living area comes from a motorhome brand. However, you can move freely throughout the motorhome and swivel the driver's seat around to become part of the dining area. Sometimes you can fold down an extra bed above the dining area.
2. alcove car - FREEDOM and mobile homes for families with children
Our FREEDOM motorhome is an alcove motorhome. An alcove motorhome is a motorhome that is basically a semi-integrated motorhome, but has an alcove above the driver's area. In the alcove there is a sleeping area that can always be made up, which makes this model of motorhome particularly suitable for families with children. We use the alcove as a guest bed sometimes, and in between as a storage space ...
3. Fully integrated motorhome - a slightly more luxurious motorhome model
A fully integrated motorhome is a motorhome model that, unlike the semi-integrated model, is built in one piece. Fully integrated motorhomes are usually the same width throughout and have a relatively large interior space. These motorhomes are often a little more luxurious and a little more expensive than semi-integrated motorhomes and alcove motorhomes.
4. Plough/van - for anyone who wants a small and agile motorhome
So-called 'vans' have become extremely popular in recent times. A flatbed is a van/van produced with motorhome interiors. These can often be as comfortable as a 'regular' motorhome (albeit a little smaller), but are also easy to drive and park, both in cities and in the countryside.
5. Camper - the American way of motorhome camping
A camper is a body that is attached to the top of a pick-up truck. This is a relatively uncommon type of motorhome in Sweden, but more common in the US. If you use a pickup truck on a daily basis, this might be a smart solution. A few variants of camper vans are always on display at major trade fairs.
6. Luxury motorhome/caravan bus - for those who want a motorhome model with space
If you want something really big, there are different types to choose from. For example, you can opt for an American motorhome/camper van, which often has so-called 'slide outs' that fold out to the side. Other options include the largest and most luxurious fully integrated motorhomes, where you can sometimes drive a small sports car into the garage.
7. Adventure car - for those looking for excitement and new discoveries
What is an adventure car? There's probably no clear definition, but we think of everything from expedition vehicles to off-road vehicles with tents on the roof. Every time we see one of these, our adrenaline starts pumping. Can't you see the adventure around the corner?
8. Homebuilding / self-built motorhome - for those who want their own project
Another option is of course to build your own motorhome. The most popular today is probably to start from a van/van, but you can of course also start from a bus, lorry ... or perhaps put a caravan on a lorry chassis. The only limit is your imagination!
Motorhome models - and other things to consider!
Once you have decided on a motorhome model, there are of course many other things to consider. Here's some more reading:

Lena - good for the soul says:
There are so many different variations. I've never thought about it that way before. If I were to have a motorhome, I would want a mid-range variant. Type like yours, which seems both easy to park in the city, but at the same time has room for bicycles if you do not want to move the car.

Helena says:
I understand that you don't think much about it if you don't have a motorhome yourself. We like our motorhome. For a while, I thought I wanted a smaller one, but now it's good so we can fit the electric bikes. We don't really need the alcove though. The reason we got a car like that in the first place was because we often took Peter's sons with us on trips.

We are now on our 4th motorhome since 2005, had 3 with alcoves!
Now we have the best of the ones we had, a semi-integrated Adria!
It is a 670 SL Supreme with Alde heating and garage.
which we also had on the 2 previous ones, a must for us 🙂 .
Take care.....

Ama de casa says:
Even a flatbed feels too big in my opinion. Those narrow alleys, you know... 🙂 🙂
Will probably continue with hotel camping in the future. When we get to do it again, that is...
Have fun!

Helena says:
Haha, yes, that's the thing about the alleys 😉 There are very small patches BUT I think you will enjoy your hotel camping, when possible 😉.

Arne Lindh says:
We are on our third car (in seven years). Semi-integrated (feels safer than fully integrated), 7.52 (a little too long, perhaps), long beds, separate shower and toilet, seating area with corner sofa, a lot of extras from the previous owner, Alde heating, AC, inverter, etc. Feels very well built in every detail. We are happy with the somewhat unusual LMC T731G (2015). If we change more times, it will probably be a plate (if this will feel too big). We have seen a Dreamer that is nice. See you later!

There are many aspects to consider, indeed! Nice that you are satisfied! We thought about ploughing for a while (have rented a few times and liked it), but now we want space for the electric bikes so FREEDOM will have to hang on for a while longer 😉.

bosses says:
We had an alcove car but with increasing age, it became too hard to climb the ladder and if you also have to get up at night once or twice, it became necessary to rethink. Now we have a semi-integrated and the disadvantage is only that it is a little longer, gone from 5.75 to 7.05 but it should be good. We picked it up in mid-December so we have not been out with it yet.

In a "Plåtis" you drive parcels from A to B, that's what it's designed for.
