SJ is Sweden's greenest brand in 2020
SJ has been named Sweden's greenest brand in the Transport category for the thirteenth consecutive year. Over 1,000 Swedes voted in the survey and SJ is once again recognised for its environmental and sustainability work at the forefront. This is according to this year's report Sweden's Greenest Brand, from the consulting firm Differ. In 2021, SJ's upgraded X2000 trains will be put into service and in the future, much of the plastic packaging in the bistro will be replaced with biodegradable material.
SJ closes service centres - introduces station hosts
SJ is closing its service centres in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Helsinki. Malmö as of 1 March. SJ's customers are increasingly choosing to use digital services for ticket purchases, rebooking and customer service. The need for a physical location at the station has decreased significantly and a previously planned dismantling of the premises is now being brought forward. From 1 March, SJ's customer hosts at stations in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö will be located in the station environment and on platforms.

Negative COVID-19 test required before boarding when travelling to Finland with Tallink Silja
From Tuesday 23 February 2021 and until further notice, passengers travelling to Finland with Tallink Silja must present a negative COVID-19 test result or a medical certificate of recovery from the disease. The requirement also applies to Finnish citizens travelling to Finland. Children under the age of 12 are exempt, as are cargo drivers travelling on business. Certificates will also not be required for people travelling on a cruise from Finland without disembarking in Estonia or Sweden. One of the following certificates is required:
- negative COVID-19 test result (not older than 72 hours)
- medical certificate showing that the person had COVID-19 and recovered (within the last 6 months)
First crane spotted at Lake Hornborga
The first crane of the spring has recently been seen at Lake Hornborga. The crane is probably the first to make the migration from its winter quarters in Europe back to Sweden. However, it takes a few weeks before large numbers of cranes arrive at the lake. It was on Saturday 20 February that the crane was reported to artportalen.se, which is a reporting site for nature observations. It was then seen at Sätuna in the southern part of Lake Hornborga by Kristian Kjellberg.
Reflection of the week
Travelling is limited for us humans nowadays, but it is at least lucky that the cranes can travel as usual! It would be interesting to see them on occasion.

Really looking forward to the new X2000 and have been waiting a long time for that launch! I am most curious about their new quiet area ("Calm area") which hopefully will be better than on paper (because I have some concerns).
I have written a few lines about this, based on the "revelation" I stumbled upon last summer. https://www.dryden.se/2020/07/sj-skrotar-tyst-avdelning-pa-nya-x2000/

That's interesting! I've never travelled in a quiet section. But I can certainly understand that you might want a section free of school classes or families with children if you are going to work, for example. Could a quiet section also work? We'll see!

There's a surprising amount going on considering we're limited by a pandemic... But it's only positive that something is happening!
Good with a negative C-19 test on Tallink's ferries. Then I think Gerd saw a crane in Lidköping too. As you reflected - they can move freely ...
