Monday and travel news! Right now it feels like there is more and more travel news every week. This week it was full of press releases in my inbox and it was just to pick and choose. Enjoy!

Sweden has a new five-star campsite.
The standard of Sweden's campsites continues to improve. This is the conclusion of the industry organisation SCR Svensk Camping as they release the results of the 2021 classification for all 202 quality-assessed campsites in Sweden. One new five-star and three new four-star facilities are on the list.
- New 5-star campsite: Leksand Strand in Dalarna
- New 4-star campsites: Gekåsbyn Ullared in Halland, Jogersö camping in Södermanland and Bingsmarkens camping in Skåne.
First Camp acquires Boden Camping & Bad
First Camp continues to maintain a high acquisition pace and now announces that the company has acquired Boden Camping & Bad in Norrbotten. This will be the chain's 46th destination in Scandinavia. Boden Camping & Bad is beautifully situated by Lake Bodträsket, within walking distance of the centre of Boden, and has 505 camping pitches and 36 cabins, as well as a restaurant and outdoor swimming pool. This will be First Camp's 46th destination and the fifth in Norrland.
Transavia France establishes direct route from Arlanda to Montpellier
The French low-cost carrier Transavia France is entering the Swedish market for the first time with a direct route from Stockholm Arlanda Airport to the southern French city of Montpellier. On 11 June Transavia France inaugurates the new direct route and until 13 August it will operate the route once a week on Fridays with the Boeing 737 800 aircraft type.
Wizz Air launches direct route from Malmö to Albania
The Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air is launching a new flight route from Malmö to Albania's capital Tirana for the summer season. Starting from 14 May, Wizz Air will initially offer two flights per week, but already from 31 May the service will be extended to three flights per week with the A320 aircraft type.
Rush to book Thailand holidays
TUI is seeing a big increase in bookings for next winter. Right now, the number of booked trips is increasing sharply and after the past year, more and more people are looking forward to travelling again. Bookings for Thailand has increased by 150 per cent compared to last year, which is a record early sale and the highest in seven years. Some departures are already fully booked. Price can also play a role, as a stronger krona has made travelling much cheaper.
Increased concern for climate and nature during the pandemic
Six in ten people in Sweden are concerned about the climate crisis, compared to four in ten a year ago. Almost one in three people are concerned about the loss of biodiversity, which is double the number from last year. The WWF Climate Barometer shows that COVID-19 is affecting us in several ways. Half have reduced their new consumption of goods to reduce their climate impact and half say they will fly less after the pandemic.
Iceland opens borders - for those with vaccination certificates
Iceland is the first in Europe to open its borders to people with COVID-19 vaccination certificates. People with a vaccination certificate and people who have recently been ill with COVID-19 are allowed to enter the country without having to be quarantined or tested. In both cases, certificates that fulfil the requirements of the Icelandic government must be presented. For other travellers, the double coronavirus testing requirement with a 5-day quarantine still applies. On the other hand, a volcanic eruption is currently taking place in Iceland, which may be worth keeping an eye on.
Reflection of the week
It is encouraging to see more and more travel news. At the same time, there are still many uncertainties. What will happen with vaccinations and vaccination certificates?

It's good to see that the tourism industry is starting to take off. At least on paper (rather on screen) anyway.
Have a great start to the week!

There was a real press release drought for a while, I remember you writing. Glad it has turned around. Pretty brave again to open new routes. The one from Arlanda to Montpellier sounds really interesting.

Hi and something about another trip 😊 think you wrote about "Mallen" in Solna, did it feel okay and could you walk around without crashing into people and can you have a coffee and sit like people 😊? No one we know goes there but it would be like a small trip, haha, yes the husband can probably think of something else while I go out and into every store I plan ... Have a continued nice and good week and hope the motorhome will be like new, lively and fresh again and that it has forgotten the villains.

Helena says:
We thought it felt calm in Mallen. There were not so many people and we thought it was fine to walk around without getting close to others, if you just think about it a little. But we were there on a weekday. Maybe more people on weekends?

Yes, and what will happen if everyone starts flying like crazy again. 🙁 Not good for the climate and the earth... But at the same time, I also long to travel.

I realised that I should clarify, I have a medical mask always since a year ago and usually alone with it wherever I am, hand sanitizer is included, and if someone sneezes indoors, I go out, throw away the mask and take a new one. Sometimes, and I am completely amazed, it happens that some others have mouth guards, they listened to a new alarm report perhaps but much is to be desired about hygiene, distance, consideration etc. Have a nice day in beautiful spring weather.
