Motorhome premiere of the year - join us on a castle tour!

Then it was finally time for this year's motorhome premiere! This year we have probably longed for the first motorhome trip more than ever, as there have been no other trips during the winter months. And finally it was time ... for a castle trip!

Preparing for this year's motorhome premiere

We have prepared a lot during the week. Among other things, we have washed the motorhome, cleaned and bought food. Peter also brought in the cushions, which were broken in a few places, and spent an evening repairing them.

Difficult to get away

I (Helena) wasn't working full time in March, so we thought we should be able to get away for a day or two. before Easter holidays. But then there was the fact that the project I had been working on for three years had to be finalised. There was a final spurt for a few days, and on the last day we had to act as bike messengers. The final report had to be signed by a manager in one part of the city, and submitted to an administration in another part of the city. But in the end, it was time to roll!

Filling your campervan with water - in a new way

If you've been following our blog lately, you'll know that we had a break-in in the campervan, and that we after the burglary discovered that the thief had stolen the keys to all the doors. We had extra keys for the toilet door and the broom closet door, but not to a water valve. So how do you fill your motorhome with water? Well, you open the window and pull the hose straight into the water tank.

Finally on the road!

And then we were finally on our way! It's great to be on the road again. It will not be a long trip this time, just an extended Easter holiday, but it feels like a good start to this year's motorhome travel.

Join us on a castle tour!

So, where does the trip go? Well, we have decided to go on a castle trip in Mälardalen. There is a lot you can't do in these pandemic times, but castles almost always offer beautiful environments (whether they are open or not), and beautiful environments make you happy, right? Plus, you can always find some interesting history.

There are so many castles along Lake Mälaren, and we will only be able to see a fraction of them on this first trip, but it is really fun to have goals to drive towards. We start on the south side and drive from castle to castle. Yesterday we arrived at the first one ... fantastic! We will tell you more soon!

Feel free to follow the journey here on the blog, and don't miss that we also update on Instagram, where our name is @freedomtravelnews. Feel free to share your favourite castles in the area!
