After the burglary of the motorhome

You may remember that we had burglary in the camper van a few weeks ago. The burglars smashed a window, tore open a drawer inside the car and rummaged around everywhere. Because the alarm went off, the batteries were also discharged. We filed a police report, contacted the insurance company and took care of everything that needed to be fixed.

  • Rutan was repaired at Svenska Bussglas in Kallhäll. This cost us 1500 SEK in excess.
  • The box was repaired at Iveco in Spånga.
  • The batteries was also checked at Iveco in Spånga. They said the batteries were ok, which was lucky because the insurance company told them they wouldn't replace them if they were bad.

We thought nothing was stolen, but unfortunately one thing seems to be missing - the key ring with the keys to the broom cupboard, the toilet door and the water trap! What would the thieves do with this? So annoying. We have found spare keys for the sweep door and for the toilet door, but unfortunately we don't have a spare key for the water door, so we can't get in there ...

The hatch that the burglars tore open is now repaired!

New silencer

When we still had the car at Iveco in Spånga, we took the opportunity to change the muffler, as it was completely worn out. It was not a cheap pleasure (just over SEK 13,000), but good to get it done of course.

Another problem: opening and closing the grey water system

In addition to not being able to open the water valve (and thus not being able to fill water easily), we have another problem. This is not related to the burglary, but was a thing that broke at the end of the autumn season. We never managed to solve it then, and wonder if anyone has any good tips?

We have great difficulty in opening and closing the grey water. There is a knob connected to a twisted wire, but the wire has broken. We've looked for solutions, but haven't really figured out how to do it. Among other things, we have looked at Biltema, but have not found what we are looking for. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Spring cleaning

This weekend we have taken the opportunity to spring clean the motorhome. We started on Friday with washing the motorhome at OKQ8 at the Port 73 trading centre in Haninge.

Then we went shopping for dry goods and consumables, such as rice, spices, tinned food and paper towels. We rarely had time to prepare such things in good time, so it felt really nice!

Yesterday we continued to spring cleaning your motorhome both inside and out. Now we feel somewhat ready for a premiere trip. However, we still have to do some fiddling to fill and empty the water. but we are still very much looking forward to a first trip at Easter!
