Telecommuting, May weather and nice comments

Happy Friday! We're on the road with the campervan and are happy to be digital nomads and work remotely. The May weather is not what you dream of, but you just have to make the best of the situation, right?

Telecommuting jobs

I (Helena) have been working from home for the past year due to the pandemic. My closest colleagues are in Åland, Stockholm/mountains and Dublin, and it doesn't matter if I'm in the houseboat or the camper van. All that is required is that we stand still from time to time.

This week I had to give a lecture to researchers and students at a university in Germany, so I wanted to make sure I had electricity and internet access. So we spent three nights in a row on the Bauergården farm outside the Gränna.

The only thing I hadn't realised was that intense rain is splashing... extremely high against a campervan roof. Just before I was to give my talk, the sky opened up and the rain started thundering, but two minutes before it was my turn to switch on the microphone, the rain calmed down... Happy Friday!

May weather

But the weather! We usually talk about April weather, but now we can wonder if May is the new April? One morning we woke up to ... snow. So tired of snow now. The only good thing about this is that it must be the last snow. Because it must be, right?

Nice comments

One of the best things about having a blog is the communication with all the readers. Every day we talk to readers in different ways: comments on blog posts, Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, email and sometimes even phone calls.

This ranges from cheering and tips to sharing experiences and questions about travel destinations or motorhome-related matters. Sometimes we also receive emails concerning a small factual error (yes, it happens!) or information that, for example, a restaurant we mentioned is closed. We are also very grateful for this, as it helps us to keep the information on the blog correct and up to date.

This week we have received a lot of encouraging and positive comments and it is of course very warming. Some came when we wrote about the record number of visitors to the blog in April and others came when we wrote about Swedish travel destinations, on the blog or Facebook. We get so excited that we have to show a small selection:

It is nice that you have started writing about Sweden as well, which we can use this year. We made a trip down to Europe in 2019 and had a lot of use of your tips. - Thank you for all the great tips you have.

So well written and what nice pictures!

The research you do is really amazing and the pictures are incredibly beautiful as well 🙂.

You have found everything in my home town!

I am fascinated every time I read your posts. They are disturbingly well-written and rich in content throughout. A single post is one thing, but here we are talking every day, every week, every month, every year. Impressive!

Congratulations! Absolutely incredible but then you have a nice blog too! Very readable, interesting trips and good travel tips!

Awesome! Congratulations again! You are the best!

Best this week

The best thing this week is that we were able to be out with the motorhome, despite work and bad weather. Among other things, we made a really nice stop in Trosa while it was still sunny and fine.

It has also been nice to cosy up with good food in the motorhome. One day we had fresh prawns in the lunch soup and the next day Peter cooked the prawn soup on the shell. Yummy! What has been the best part of your week?

The week ahead

We will continue to be on the move, so you can expect more Sweden reports here on the blog. How wonderful to live the motorhome life!
