The podcast is now out, if you want to listen! We've also ended up on some top travel blog lists, worked, built a patio ... and got the campervan stuck in the mud. But the motorhome got out, so Happy Friday!

Jobs ... and Gambian food
We both work a lot now, with everything from public health work to magazine production and patio construction. On Monday I (Helena) was unusually in the office because I needed help with my computer. At the same time, a colleague and I took the opportunity to have a meeting and lunch together.
We ordered food from one of the food trucks behind Karolinska Institutet, and it was an exotic "trip" to ... Gambia. The Gambian stew "domoda" is made with peanuts, and the version I ordered also contained lamb. Delicious! Have you ever eaten Gambian food?
Podcasts
We told you last week that we were on the podcast "Succeed in life" by Monica Balkefors. The episode is now available and you can listen to it. here. I'm glad we could join in!
Top lists of best travel blogs
This week we have come up with two top lists of the best travel blogs in 2021. product experts which ranks Sweden's 23 best travel blogs in 2021, and also Top blog area which ranks Sweden's 5 best travel blogs in 2021. We do not attach too much importance to such listings, but of course we are happy every time someone says something positive about our blog and wants to highlight it. We humbly thank you!
Building balconies
So we drove the camper van to Peter's mum on the Hållnäs peninsula in Uppland, because Peter and his brother were going to help her build a terrace. They did, and it turned out really well! Now she has bought a lot of flowers to plant, so it will be cosy.
Stuck in the mud
Where would we park the campervan during the construction of the terrace? We first thought of parking on the asphalt parking lot, but then the neighbours suggested that we roll into the lawn. We would not have done. It only took a few minutes, and then we were stuck. Now it was the neighbours who came to our rescue! Does anyone know anyone who has a tractor? Yes, half an hour later a tractor rolled in and helped us out. Happy Friday!
Best this week
The best part of this week is the fantastic weather (which we didn't expect) and the great visit to Forsmark's mill. We also got a lot done and made a few more steps forward in the production of the magazine. Your turn, what can you highlight as positive from your week?
The week ahead
We are currently in Uppland, and we plan to see one more of the poppy farms here. Then we will slowly start rolling southwards. We have an interesting mission ahead of us in southern Sweden.

Yes the lawn is nicer but treacherously easy to slip and then you sit. I "Always" stand on slip mats good that you got help.

Yes, it was soft so we sank and sat cross-legged ... 😝 Very nice that we got help, and so quickly!

How nice for you to be on these top lists, congratulations!
The best thing about my week is that I got to see the owners with paint brushes as they have just started repainting their house. Not sure if the owners think the same though!
Speaking of renovation or extension, nice patio you built and it is something special to walk out on a patio instead of stone slabs.

Helena says:
Great job by the owners! And of course the terrace turned out great! When the weather is nice, it will be perfect to be here!

Ha ha ..but in mud check! We did the first year also with relatives. Then you learn!
How much fun you seem to be having!
We are happy here now that the sun has entered the clearing. The best part of the week was the visit of children and grandchildren.
Have a nice weekend!

Great fun with the top lists. I mean it was really an art to keep a travel blog alive in 2020 and also this year because of the pandemic.
The podcast - yes, it was also okay, but I did not manage to listen to the whole thing. The girl was a bit too fuzzy for my taste;-)
Good thing about living in the country. Then tractor help is always close by - hahaha;-)

Helena says:
Yes, it has definitely been a little different to run a travel blog! Maybe there was not so much new for you in the podcast either? And yes, if we had been in Stockholm, it would not have been possible to get a tractor to come in that smooth way!!!

Congratulations on the listings! Nice that you get appreciation for all the work. I listened to the podcast as evening reading one night, nice!
The best part of the week is that the house has been emptied, cleaned and the keys handed over to the new owners. Now we will go away and just relax for a few days before we continue to fix the apartment....

Thank you! And how nice that everything is ready with the house! That's a lot of work!

I have now listened to the podcast interview.
Easy and nice to get a reminder of how you started, how you think and how you got to where you are today.
Noticed that we have a lot of similar thoughts about life, such as how you wanted to get out of the squirrel wheel and ended up in what you want. I haven't had a permanent job since I was 20 years old (now 66 years old), yet I have worked a lot. A choice to get the freedom to do what I wanted, instead of getting the security that many are looking for in a permanent job and thus perhaps also miss out on a lot in life. Also your thoughts on financial survival, finding good ways to reach the goal. To perhaps reduce the fixed costs on what you may not need. etc. Interesting thoughts.
The only thing about the interview that was unfortunately a bit negative was the sound quality at times, but you have to take it for what it is.
Happy Whitsun weekend!

Lena, glad you listened to the podcast! Interesting also how you recognise yourself. The question is what you want in life and what makes you happy, and it doesn't necessarily have to be security and good finances (although of course you need some of that). For us, money is a means and not an end. You also seem to have really found freedom and interesting challenges!
