Böda Sand Camping on Öland is not only Sweden's largest campsite but also known from the TV reality series Böda Camping. Located along a two-mile long white sandy beach, the campsite is like a small village of its own with shops, restaurants, entertainment and activities.

Böda Sand Camping
Böda Sand Camping is perhaps the most famous of all campsites in Sweden, and perhaps it should be called a resort. After all, this is not only a campsite but also a "complete" summer resort with everything a holidaying family could wish for. Despite its size and scope, Böda Sand Camping is actually 100 per cent family-owned.
Böda sand camping is located in Löttorp, in the north of Öland.
A visit to Böda Sand Camping
Peter has been to Böda Sand Camping once a long, long time ago, but the memories are not so sweet. Maybe we shouldn't blame the campsite for that, but if you throw away your engagement ring and, after a heated argument, cancel your holiday with your girlfriend, it won't be very successful, even if the environment is nice.
When we visited Öland together eight years ago, with Peter's youngest son Billie and his girlfriend at the time, we also tried to get into Böda Sand, but it was full. That time we instead went to Sonja's campsitewhich was not so bad either. But now it was time to check out Böda Sand Camping - for the day.
Böda Beach Club - with pool and beach
We first went down to Böda Beach Club, and here the atmosphere is like any foreign champagne bar. Luxurious and relaxed! Many young people were hanging out here, which is understandable.
Right next door is the pool area with lots of pools, water slides and sunbeds.
Centre with shops and children's activities
Böda Sand Camping also has its own centre, with an ICA store, bakery, hairdresser, ATM, shops and restaurants. There is also a whole range of activities, not least for children. The campsite has two mini-golf courses, mini-cars and playgrounds.
If you get tired of shopping and activities, you can choose to sit on a bench and take a break ...
Outdoor gyms, jogging tracks and sports activities
There is also a lot to choose from for those who enjoy sports and outdoor activities. There is an outdoor gym, an obstacle course and jogging trails, as well as a golf course and tennis and paddle courts. You can also rent mountain bikes if you want, and equipment for various water sports, such as jet skis and SUP.
Camping with a motorhome or caravan
At Böda Sands camping there are 1350 campsites. When we were here, it was not yet full, but it was on the other hand before midsummer.
We have not seen the TV series "Böda Camping", but others who have seen it have said that we must look for "Paradgatan" which is supposed to be "Böda's own 5th Avenue". This is apparently where the "finest" people live, and they are careful to light candles along the street in the evening.
Camping in a cottage
There are a total of 125 cabins at Böda Sand Camping, so you don't need a motorhome or caravan to holiday here.
We checked out the "Love Nest", where three cottages are located in a secluded spot in the forest, with a less populated part of the beach below.
We also checked out "Strandbyn med loft", where all the cottages have a loft.
What did we think of Böda Sand Camping?
For ourselves, we usually choose pitches or smaller campsites, but if you are looking for this type of camping, we must say that it is very nice here. We ourselves had a very nice day in the sun! We were also very pleased with the good treatment at the reception, by a young guy who genuinely seemed to enjoy his job very much.
See more around Böda Sand Camping
Not far from Böda Sand camping is Mellböda farm with 2D café, art and kite flying. If you go north instead, you will find the beaches Lyckeskog and Homrevet and Trollskogen. In the northernmost part of Öland you will also find the Långe Erik lighthouse. On the west coast you can follow a beautiful road past Byxelkrok and Byrum's raukar.

Matts Torebring says:
We stayed there for two weeks in 2017, and everything is of the highest standard, apart from a politician's visit which we think was inappropriate. It is probably by far the most expensive campsite in Sweden to stay at. If the price was more moderate, we would return.

Helena says:
Isn't it nice? We ourselves quite rarely choose larger and more expensive campsites, although we can choose to do it once in a while. This time, however, it was only a visit over the day.

Now I have a lot to catch up on from reading with you.
Never visited Böda, but heard about the campsite.
The beach bar looks almost like they do here in Spain. Partly the beaches too, although the sand 'is whiter and more beautiful on Öland.
Lots of activities at this campsite, amazing. Also many different accommodations.
Take care!

Just when you are at the beach and the beach bar it feels a bit like you are abroad somewhere, delicious 😉 And thank you so much!!! 🙂

Gosh, I say, luckily you get to choose where to go and it won't be there. Hihi

Not everything suits everyone, so it's good that you can choose 🙂 Have fun!

Frizz says:
Wow, I can't believe there is such a place! Given the short season, I understand if it is expensive. I can imagine that some people like with a capital G, I would prefer something calmer. Fantastic that this exists in Sweden! Thanks for the report

Helena says:
Yes, a fascinating place! When you get down to the beach, it's a bit of a foreign feeling 😉 But it's true that it doesn't suit everyone. It's good that you can choose! 🙂

Mr Dennis Eriksson says:
I can't believe that someone or you are advertising a campsite that charges 870kr per night.
I think it's a bloody robbery.
03 July 2021 - 6:23
Helena says:
Prices vary depending on the date and location, but this is one campsite that is more expensive! We try to write about different destinations, activities, experiences and sights, some of which are more expensive and others cheaper or free. The report is not intended as an advertisement (we don't profit from that) and we also write in the report that we ourselves usually choose smaller campsites or pitches.

Lena - good for the soul says:
Many years ago I was on Öland with a caravan. We had not booked, but stopped to look around (and have a coffee), to maybe stay there later. However, you had to pay quite a lot. I don't remember if it was "entry" or if it was a daily fee for parking. We were grumpy anyway and did not think it was worth the money to look around and have a coffee. Have not seen the TV series either. Nothing that attracts. However, I think it is really well organised and nice for those who like that kind of holiday.
Was there as a child too, even then with a caravan. Can imagine that it has changed a lot.

Innocent says:
Heard that this campsite brings together newly rich and wannabe rich people with no class or style. Also that all women 30+ are full of botox and silicone.
Of course, I realise that this is a negative image, but there is a lot of truth in it.
Or am I wrong? No judgement or moralising, just what I heard.
Everyone likes different things.
