We are finally on the road with the motorhome again! This time we plan to discover the west coast of Sweden. We start in Skåne and slowly meander up towards the Norwegian border. Along the way we expect to discover lots of gems. Happy Friday!

Unexpected visit to the houseboat
Everyone can have an unexpected visitor, but when you live in a houseboat, things can be a little different. Peter's son Robin and his wife Alexandra came by in ... a canoe! What a lovely surprise!
Departure from the houseboat - time for a motorhome trip
For us, it was then time to pack our bags from the houseboat to the motorhome. This year we chose to be at home in the boat during the most intense high season, and it was instead a "pre-season trip" and a "post-season trip" with the motorhome. And now it was time to start the post-season trip!
We are not only on holiday when we drive the motorhome, but also work. This means we need to carry all sorts of things with us, including printers, which had to be transported from the boat to the car on Peter's electric bike...
Among other things, we need the printer to print shipping labels for parcels sent via the webshop. Because yes, we have a little bit of everything from the online shop to be able to deliver from the motorhome!
Then it was just a matter of packing the motorhome, buying food and filling water. It also turned out that we needed to fill air in the tyres, because the tyre pressure was a little too low.
Motorhome trip - west coast starting in Skåne
During our "pre-season trip", we focused mainly on the south-east and east coast of Sweden, between squid and Skanör, with various forays into the country. Now we have decided to start where we left off, you could say. We have driven down towards Skåne, with a few stops along the way:
We are now on the western side of Skåne, and from here we will slowly wind our way up the west coast, and if we have time, we will make it all the way to the Norwegian border. Do you have tips on favourite places along the way? Feel free to shout!
Best this week
The best thing this week is to be on the road with the motorhome again! There have been some problems and hassles with all sorts of things, but there's nothing like having several weeks of motorhome travel ahead of you. What has been the best part of your week?
The week ahead
During the coming week, there will be discoveries along the west coast of Skåne. Hope you want to follow along here on the blog! You can of course also follow the trip on Facebook at @freedomtravelnews and on Instagram at @freedomtravelnews.

Welcome to Northwest Skåne, starting with Höganäs and the Kullen nature reserve. In Höganäs there are both nice pitches and free car parks with excellent location. Welcome here!

Nice to have the "best coast". And the gems are many. Depends on what you want. There is so much. We are so fond of the outermost sea band and in the past have gladly taken us there. But a trip to Marstrand is recommended and the road out there is so nice. Make a stop also at Åstol. In Strömstad there are many opportunities to get out to the Koster Islands. If you pass Fjällbacka, a visit to the Väderöarna is very nice.
The best thing this week has been the visit to Åland, both the trip there and now being able to land here again. The Covid passports make it much easier.
I have also seen Lars Lerin's watercolours which are now exhibited at the Åland Art Museum. And it was so good.
Wishing you a great trip.

Wow, so many tips! We've heard about many of them, but not all, and we haven't visited many yet. Will be interesting! Nice with a trip to Åland!

How wonderful for you to be on the road again and perfect to be able to both work and travel. We are home and resting for a few days, some grandchildren's baking after a motorhome trip to Vimmerby and Gränna.
On Monday we'll be travelling by ferry to Rostock, so much fun!

It will be nice to follow your journey through a part of Sweden where we have not travelled much. Apart from childhood camping holidays around Strömstad and a year at school in Gothenburg. Best but also worst this week is that the motorhome has been left in the workshop for a couple of weeks... Will be nice to get the problem fixed, but incredibly boring to be without!

Like you, we have not travelled so much on the West Coast before, so this will be exciting! Sad that you have to be without the motorhome, but hope you get help to fix the problem now then!!!

Ven is wonderfully beautiful and lots of interesting things to discover and look into at Tycho Brahe, the astronomy scientist who built the aptly named Stjerneborg castle in the 16th century. Much was later destroyed but we now know how much knowledge he had and recreated instruments. And the garden is a research site in terms of vegetation etc. And then it is so nice to cycle around the whole beautiful island and great food is available.
Bought a lot of beautiful things from the island, but we also made a road trip in southern Sweden and stayed with family and friends who received the gifts.
There are just under 400 residents but a lot of people who create in different areas and summer homes. Gives a wonderful feeling the island that never disappears.
Stay safe and have a nice weekend.

Thank you, we have had a great day at Ven!!! Lovely weather and so nice environments!!! Hope you had the same! Lundåkra is an excellent parking space, we think! Now we do not know which car is yours? (sooo many here) but if we know where you are, we can come by with our magazine 🙂 🙂.

How nice to have an unexpected visitor... with a canoe. You don't get that kind of visit every day.
It will be fun to follow you on your road trip up the west coast. Hope you get great weather and report on one of my favourite cities Gothenburg.

Fun with a west coast trip! I can recommend Hovs Hallar on the Bjäre Peninsula, dramatic landscape. Kullaberg and Ven are also nice places. Further north, Lysekil, with Stångehuvud and old beautiful houses, is worth a visit and the Väderöarna are cool if you want to go out to sea. We usually dive there and have had lunch breaks at Väderöbod and Storön.
