Sights in Stockholm and an exciting package

We have had time to see some exciting sights in Stockholm, and while we visited the Royal Palace, my (Helena's) mum received a prize from the King there! We have also received an exciting package, and now we are preparing for a trip abroad. Happy Friday!

Visit (and award ceremony!) at the Royal Palace of Stockholm.

At the end of last week we visited the Royal Palace and some other exciting sights in Stockholm. At the palace we saw the parade floor, which we had seen before, but it was a long time ago. So amazingly beautiful! We also took a look at the Royal Armoury. There will of course be a report in the future, but maybe we will wait until we have also checked out the Treasury and Gustav III's antique museum, which is currently closed.

When I (Helena) talked to my mum the next day, it turned out that she had been at the Royal Palace at almost exactly the same time - and received a prize directly from the King! (Yes, I knew that she would receive the award, but the date has been postponed several times due to the pandemic, so I had forgotten what day it was).

The award was the 'Johan August Wahlberg Medal' which she and another laureate received for 'pioneering contributions to research in physical geography'. You can watch her receive the award (in a long green dress) at The Royal Family's website. Great fun!

Visit to Riddarhuset and Riddarholm Church.

We, who were just travelling, had time for two more interesting sights. The visit to House of Knights was unexpectedly interesting, and so was the visit to the Riddarholm Church. This church is really full of royal history. When we have time, we'll do a report!

A nice and exciting package!

We will test a translator in co-operation with the company Vasco Electronics. However, we forgot to give them our phone number, and as we live in a boat with the same address as all the other boats on the same jetty, UPS failed to deliver. The next day, however, a funny thing happened ...

We walked past the marina and at exactly the same minute a UPS truck pulled up. "Are you Bergström?", he asked. Lots of people walk past the marina here, so it must have been a coincidence that we came along at this particular second. "We have a package for you," he said.

The new translator, what fun! We also got a happy surprise when we opened the parcel. Besides the translator, we got socks, cookies and a travel diary. The translator is on charge and we will test it on our next trip. We will come back with a report! If you are already curious, you will find the translator here. Best this week

For me (Helena) it has actually been a bit of a hard week with a lot of migraines, but now we should focus on the positive, right? In addition to all the fun we have already told you about, this weekend we were at a very nice dinner party with our friends Lennart and Beata, where Peter's son Robin and his wife Alexandra were also present, so we could celebrate Robin's birthday. Very nice!

Lennart and Beata offered a starter that we have never tasted before, namely razor clams that they cooked in the oven with oil, garlic and parsley. We will gladly eat it again, so good! Have you eaten razor clams? And what has been the best part of your week?

The week ahead

Next week we are off to the Czech Republic on a press trip! It's an interesting programme that mixes dramatic nature with glass, food and city adventures. Probably there will be some shorter reports from the trip while we are there, and some a little fuller when we get home. Wishing you a great weekend!!!
