Record numbers of Swedish guests at Swedish campsites this summer
New figures from SCB/Tillväxtverket show a record-breaking summer for Sweden's campsites. During June-August, Sweden's campsites had 10.9 million guest nights, an increase of 20 per cent compared to 2020. Swedish guest nights increased by 9 per cent compared to 2019. This means that there were more Swedish guests at Sweden's campsites during the summer of 2021 than before the pandemic. Accommodation revenues during the same period amounted to SEK 1.5 billion, an increase of 24 per cent compared to the same period last year.
Summer tourism reaches new "all time high" in the High Coast
July was a record month for commercial guest nights in the High Coast. The destination notes a total of 359,619 commercial guest nights for June-August, which is a new all-time high. Seen over the summer period, the preliminary figures for camping, hotels, cottages and hostels show an increase of 11 per cent compared to the 2019 figures.
Norwegian removes face mask requirements on flights in Scandinavia
As of Monday 18 October, it is no longer required to wear a face mask on Norwegian flights within and between Scandinavian countries. This is due to the decreasing risk of infection and the authorities' cancellation of the restrictions in Scandinavia. Norwegian maintains the requirement for face masks on flights to other European destinations. Passengers are advised to be aware that face masks are still required at most Nordic and European airports.
Thai Airways restarts direct route to Phuket
Thai airline Thai Airways is seeing an increase in demand and is restarting operations on the Stockholm Arlanda Airport to Phuket. At the same time, the number of departures to the capital Bangkok for the winter. Thai Airways currently flies to Bangkok and in November it will also restart services to popular Phuket.
- Direct line Stockholm Arlanda - Bangkok Suvarnabhumi is operated twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- Starting on 6 Nov: Direct line Stockholm Arlanda - Phuket International Airport is operated 1 time/week on Saturdays.
Icelandic PLAY starts direct route from Landvetter to Reykjavik
The new Icelandic low-cost carrier PLAY enters the Swedish market for the first time with a direct route from Göteborg Landvetter Airport to the Icelandic capital. Reykjavik. The newly started Icelandic low-cost airline began flying in the summer of 2021 and the route between Gothenburg and Reykjavik will be the first route that PLAY starts in Sweden. The route will be launched on 20 May and will operate twice a week during the summer. The aircraft type is Airbus A321Neo.
Interest in autumn holiday trips has increased by 40 per cent
Flygresor.se has compiled a list of the most sought-after countries during the autumn holidays. The autumn holiday is this year from 1 November to 5 November. Searches have increased by 40 percent for the autumn holidays compared to searches for last year. The list is topped by:

Reflection of the week
It is not surprising that camping and Swedish destinations have broken records, given the increase in swimming holidays. We believe that the interest in Sweden can continue - in parallel with an increase in international travelling.

Fun with Thailand. But as I understood, there are still quarantine rules approx. 10 days and entry permits that apply when travelling there. And you can not decide which hotel to stay in. You pay yourself. But a lot can change quickly. Looked yesterday at Sweden Abroad.and they do not directly advise Swedes to travel here yet - We would love to take a trip to our Thai paradise on the mainland. Realise that we have to wait a while.

Nothing bad that doesn't have some good with it. It is no surprise that Swedish destinations were the winners during the pandemic. I also believe that the positive trend will continue for at least another year.
Lifting the mask requirement on aeroplanes is a bit optimistic, especially considering that Finland has just entered phase 5 of the pandemic...
