The Christmas spirit is creeping in, and that's not a bad thing. It's especially cosy with all the lights going up everywhere in the middle of the dark winter. We have (believe it or not) decorated a bit, offered Christmas food and enjoyed a Christmassy Stockholm.
Table of contents
Christmas tree, candles and advent calendar
For once, we have some Christmas spirit here at home in the houseboat. We are not very good at that, but this year we have a Christmas tree, Christmas lights and even an advent calendar, which we got from our partner Anna at Pufz. We have also decorated the blog for Christmas, with articles such as Santa Claus and odd Christmas traditions.
Christmas table with extra vegetables
Last weekend we also arranged a traditional Christmas table here in the houseboat, but with a little extra green. The guests who were here are Muslims, and do not eat pork. They have only lived in Sweden for a few months, so it was fun to show off some Swedish traditions, and we think it was also appreciated.
Christmas dinner without pork? Yes, it goes perfectly well! We had herring, boiled potatoes, egg halves with different sauces, several kinds of salmon, Jansson's temptation, meatballs, lamb sausage, beetroot salad, Västerbotten cheese pie, kale salad with apple and pomegranate seeds, Brussels sprouts, wafer bread and cheese. And, of course, mulled wine, cider, fruit and chocolate!
Christmas in the city
It's Christmas in the city too, which is nice! At this dark time, it's nice with all the lights that light up, and not least it's wonderfully lit up at Centralen!
Best this week
The best thing about this week is that it's getting close to Christmas. We still have a lot to do, but it feels a little, little calmer.
What has been the best part of your week? Have you managed to get into the Christmas spirit at home yet?
The week ahead
We're at home in the houseboat right now, and this week we'll have a Christmas travel article from one of our guest writers. We will continue to pick up cities and places that we have visited during the year - but that we haven't had time to write about yet. Don't miss it!
Did you miss the last Happy Friday? Read the Sightseeing in Stockholm and lots of good food

It was Christmassy here 🙂
Here we went all-in with Christmas on the first Advent and the best part of the week was probably our trip to Murcia. It is a Christmas tradition we have, although last year it did not happen because we were not allowed to go into our neighbouring region. The reason? Well, what could it have been?
Keep up the good work with your Christmas shopping!

It was unexpected, but really fun with Christmas on the houseboat. Laughed at your tree - instead of Christmas balls FreedomTravel tags - hahaha:-)

Haha, yes, I left it to Peter to decorate the tree, and that's how it turned out 😉 We had some nice Christmas tree decorations from the Czech Republic, but they ended up in a window instead 😉.

Finest tree in town...🤣🤣
Here we will also get some Christmas food on Sunday when Christmas will be celebrated with B-M's daughters, not easy with three vegetarians, one gluten intolerant, two lactose intolerant and two who do not tolerate nuts, almonds, apples, carrots etc. After all, everyone is usually full and satisfied. It will be fun anyway.

Haha, there are not so high ambitions with our tree, we are happy that we have one 😉 And oh yes, you have a lot to take into account on that Christmas table!!! A challenge of course, but if you think a little, it can be solved, and you seem to have experience 😉.

The Muslims were drinking mulled wine! Must have been non-alcoholic, right?
The food makes me homesick. Janssons!
Great closing photo! Happy 4th Advent.

What a nice comment from you Ruth! Hope all is well, and that you will soon have a nice Christmas! Yes absolutely true, we only served non-alcoholic. Glögg can be drunk just as well with or without alcohol, so we thought it was still a nice tradition to showcase. I think they liked the mulled wine, and the Christmas mustard too 😉.

Merry Christmas to you! Nice to have some Christmas spirit! Didn't see the decoration of the tree at first... but great!
Here we have many candles and some decorations now. My family is coming here on the 23rd. Myyys! We actually did not intend to have a Christmas table! I think everyone gets enough of it anyway. So it will be salmon and tabbouleh. Pickled mushrooms and aubergine for the vegan. However, what we have as a tradition for the coffee is Romrussin cake with a dollop of cream. Mmm...
No, I got hungry!
Enjoy!
