Travelling to Bora Bora was a true dream come true. When we travelled to Bora Bora in 2018, I was working in a 5-star hotel in Wellington, New Zealand. We had a mutual acquaintance living in Bora Bora who we chose to stay with for a month and pay a rent of 200 USD for a month.
The flight to Tahiti took 3 hours from beautiful Auckland. The day before we had been to wine tastings at vineyards and visited beaches on Waiheke Island off Auckland.
I can't remember the name of Tahiti's cosy hostels. The first day we rented a car and drove around Tahiti Island, visiting black sand beaches - unique black beaches from the lava. The next day we took the ferry over to the paradise of Moorea.
Moorea and stingrays
If I had to guess where Disney's Peter Pan Island was, it would be Moorea. Here we stayed at the home of a cosy lady in her Air BnB. My flight attendant friend who works and lives in Switzerland flew down to Bora Bora to meet us. The next day we drove around Moorea in Mali's rental car and stopped to feed wild stingrays. They are not dangerous, the locals have removed their tag to live together in symbiosis.
Swimming with dolphins
At the beautiful luxury Hilton Hotel Moorea, I got to swim with dolphins for the first time. The one I swam with was rescued from a tropical storm and was blind in one eye. The dolphins were trained in the open sea and had a large and beautiful swimming area around the hotel. There was also a turtle reserve with baby turtles.
Photos from the hammock and the bridge at the Hilton Hotel Moorea
We walked around the whole resort and looked at the nice Bungalows of the Hilton hotel Moorea and drank a mocktail in the sun.
Car ride around the island
While travelling around the island, we also climbed a mountain with the most beautiful view.
The water by the road looked like this all over Moorea.
We went around the island by car and up the mountain to look at the view and see pineapple plantations.
After a few days in beautiful Moorea, it was time to fly to Bora Bora with a small aircraft. Below you see some aerial photos from nearby islands on the way ...

What a lovely post! Perfect timing when it is zero degrees here at home. Swimming among dolphins and turtles must have been a dream:-)
Hannah has done the same press trips as you have. Is that how you got to know each other

Perfect for dreaming away, right? 🙂 Yes exactly, we got to know Hannah on a press trip in Bulgaria. However, the trip that this post is about is not a press trip.
