My name is Christian Muda and I run Matochresebloggen.se - a travel blog focusing on food experiences. I also run the digital agency Boosty.se. I often eat out in restaurants at home in Stockholm, when I'm not travelling, and love to try new restaurants. Here are five tips on restaurants that the Food and Travel Blog likes a lot!
#1 Restaurant Animo - modern neighbourhood restaurant
Restaurant Animo opened a few months ago in Vasastan in Stockholm and describes itself as a "modern neighbourhood restaurant". The restaurant is run by chefs Daniel Haynes and Anders Karlsson, who were both former members of the Swedish National Culinary Team and won a gold medal in 2018.
Here you can eat the dish they won the gold medal with. A restaurant you should not miss if you like innovative, good food! Read More here.
#2: Totemo Ramen - a small hole in the wall.
Totemo Ramen is a small "hole in the wall" on St Eriksgatan and is one of the places in Stockholm that reminds me most of Japan - and not just because it only serves ramen. Small restaurants with room for barely a dozen guests - most of them sitting on bar stools around the chef - are almost the only ones I've seen in Japan when I've been travelling.
Get here really early or late if you don't want to queue for an hour to eat Stockholm's best ramen! Read More here.
#3. tasting menu at La Ragazza.
I love discovering small ambitious neighbourhood restaurants, but it's also fun to occasionally eat my way through an interesting tasting menu - even if it's way more expensive and comes with higher expectations. So when some friends of ours had booked a table at La Ragazza and asked if we wanted to join them, we quickly said YES! Here they serve a fixed 12-course menu called Sun to Table. Incredibly good - read more here!
#4. Little Ego. A perennial favourite.
If you ask a "foodie" what their favourite restaurant in Stockholm is, almost everyone will say "Little Ego". This is also the case for me. Amazingly good food in a relaxed and friendly environment. Ever since they opened in 2008 it has been fully booked - but there are always some drop-in seats at the bar. Tip is to follow them on Instagram where they post late cancellations. Read more about Lilla Ego here.
#5 Xiang Yue on Sturegatan - One of Stockholm's best Chinese restaurants.
A place with a questionable facade, misspelled menus with pictures of the food - but fantastic flavours. Xiang Yue on Sturegatan is, according to many, one of Stockholm's best Chinese restaurants. It serves brilliant Chinese food at cheap prices. Go here in a group and let the staff choose the best from the menu. With an ice-cold Chinese beer! As close to Beijing as you can get in Stockholm! Read more about Xiang Yue here.

Thanks for the great tips! "Lilla Ego" is so good but you usually have to book a table in very good time so it is not a slink in place.
I have also visited the Chinese restaurant on Sturegatan a few times and will definitely go there again. Could give some genuine Beijing feeling
