Sweden's best street food named at Swedish Street Food Awards

Street food will be taken to new heights when the Swedish Street Food Awards are organised in Helsingborg 17-19 June. Visitors to H22 City Expo will be able to vote with a jury for the best street food in Sweden. When visitors buy food from the participating carts, they will also receive a ballot to vote for their favourite dishes. The jury's exciting work in judging the food can also be followed on site. The winners will go on to represent Sweden in the final of the European Street Food Awards this autumn.

Once again, the "Rhine in flames" folk festival is organised

Once again the German folk festival 'Rhein in Flammen' (Rhine in Flames) is organised. The festival takes place along the Rhine and the highlight is the large firework shows. Locals love to watch the fireworks from the many tour boats, where they can enjoy dinner or a glass of wine. The days include live concerts, cultural events and wine festivals. This year the festival is organised in four locations. It starts in Bingen and Rüdesheim on 2 July and ends in St. Goar and St. Goarshausen on 17 September.

The High Coast is highlighted on TV and internationally

High Coast has appeared in TV productions before, but this year there is a greater opportunity than ever to see the destination on screen. A press release presents a selection of productions, campaigns and top lists that include the High Coast:

  • Lars Lerin's TV series "The way out" shows clips from Nordingrå, Skuleberget, Ulvön and other parts of the High Coast.
  • The documentary series "This is your country" with Carina Bergfeldt chose the High Coast, to showcase beautiful Swedish natural environments.
  • New York Times has selected the High Coast as one of 52 sustainable international travel destinations.
  • Visit Sweden's 'Discover the originals' campaign highlighted Bodviken as "more than an IKEA washbasin".
  • The reality series "Secrets of the elite force" will soon be showing a new season, filmed at the Hemsö Fortress and around the High Coast.

Rasta has opened its 28th site.

Between Västerås and Stockholm, along the E18 north of Bålsta, you will now find Rasta Ekolskrog. The newly renovated restaurant opened its doors in early February and is now in full swing. Rasta's 28th establishment has been given a new look and the hope is that Rasta Ekolskrog will set the template for what the Rasta of the future will look like in terms of interior design and range. Adjacent to the restaurant you will also find a Preem station with a shop.

Reflection of the week

Many destinations seem to be planning for upcoming events and festivals - in the spring, summer and autumn - and this feels promising. We haven't been spoilt for choice in recent years.
