This week, almost all travel news is about the removal of Swedish pandemic restrictions and what this means in different contexts. In addition, we see pictures of cute calves born to a critically endangered species.

Swedish pandemic restrictions lifted 9 February
Most pandemic restrictions and general advice will be removed as of 9 February. These include attendance restrictions, vaccination certificates and distance requirements between parties. However, some advice and recommendations will remain in place. These include special advice for the unvaccinated and that anyone experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 should stay at home and avoid contact with others.
Viking Cinderella abolishes Covid passport requirements and launches entertainment programme
Viking Line's popular pleasure cruiser Viking Cinderella is currently making a guest appearance on the Helsinki line but will return to normal service with Mariehamn cruises on 24 February 2022. From the same date, passengers will no longer need to show a covid pass to travel on Cinderella. At the same time, the Baltic Sea's largest entertainment scene will reopen with artist performances and dancing. During the spring, performances will include Eric Gadd, Loreen, Robin Bengtsson and Norlie & KKV.
Tallink Silja opens up as the government lifts restrictions
As a result of the government's decision to lift all restrictions linked to the corona pandemic, Tallink Silja is now adapting all operations on board. From 9 February, passengers from Stockholm no longer need to show covid certificates. Restaurants and bars will stay open longer, all restrictions on the number of people in seated company are removed, and the entertainment returns to normal. Traffic will also gradually return to the normal timetable.
Abolished and eased restrictions at SkiStar
Thanks to the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, SkiStar can finally remove several of the precautionary measures, while retaining some. As of 9 February, virtually all restrictions will be removed at SkiStar's Swedish destinations. Among other things, the warming huts will open. Restrictions will also be eased in Norway, and when entering Norway from abroad you no longer need to be tested (if you have a covid passport). The remaining restrictions will be reviewed again by the Norwegian government on 17 February.
Motorhome fair in Kista can plan freely after lifting of restrictions
It has long been clear that there will be a motorhome fair, "Freedom on wheels", in Kista on 18-20 March. The lifting of restrictions on 9 February will make it even easier for organisers to plan freely. Since the restrictions are lifted, there is no need to limit the number of visitors, but they will still make sure that it is easy to keep a distance. The fair will showcase vehicles, and there will also be a strong focus on accessories and travel destinations.
Sweden's first female donkey calves born at Kolmården.
On 10 and 11 January, the first ever damascals were born in Sweden. The females, Turi and Taja, each had a small calf one day apart. The dama gazelle is a critically endangered species with fewer than 200 individuals left in the wild. Kolmården is taking part in a European conservation project for the dama gazelle, so it is particularly gratifying that two small new calves have now seen the light of day. The little calves have been named Tingeling and Arwen and they are long-awaited additions to the damascene herd.
Reflection of the week
The Swedish pandemic restrictions will now be released very soon. It is nice that the situation is finally better and, not least, it must be a relief for all companies that depend on eased restrictions to conduct their business!

JoY says:
Understand that there are many who long for the 9th after these tough years with restrictions. Heard from the son's partner, who has now returned to work after maternity leave, and came in with the same pace as when she left the office. That it was not at all the same high pace / efficient in the office, as before the pandemic. If they are now going into the office, they will have to step up, no sweatpants, etc. We will probably stay away from large crowds for a while longer. However, we hope to be able to go out into Europe later this year.

Yes, just as you say. As of 9 February, it's just "business as usual" again. I wouldn't really think so. We who are a little older will still keep "safe distances" as we have learnt for over two years now. In addition, the pandemic is far from over. There are still thousands who are infected every day.
Of course, I am happy for the business and tourism community that the restrictions are finally being eased, but...
