The Vildmarksvägen is Sweden's highest paved road and crosses the Stekenjokk plateau between Lapland and Jämtland. The road, which is 50 kilometres long, offers mountain adventures in a Sami cultural landscape. Please note that the route over Stekenjokk is only open from 6 June to 15 October.

So many great suggestions for motorhome road trips! Looking north, the High Coast tourist route with small fishing villages and wonderful nature is a suggestion. Then also the road from Kiruna towards Riksgränsen with Abisko, Lapporten and Torne träsk. We have driven Gotland around off season once and we can imagine a repeat of that trip!
Sweden is actually amazing!

We are also keen on the high coast! In the north we also have a lot left, and Gotland is also left for us. Thanks for great tips! 🙂

VÄTTERN RUNT is not just a cycle race. For us easterners, Lake Vättern is our west coast with many cosy excursion destinations. Some of them:
Vadstena, the city of culture with a long and exciting history, castle, monastery, Holy Birgitta, sculpture park, spa, restaurants, shops, harbour and central car park.
Omberg, Sagoberg with fantastic nature, Stolplycke harbour.
Hästholmen, the big, small harbour. View towards Ellen Keys Strand, which we will visit at some point. Stora Lunda nature reserve with a car park for motorhomes down by the shore of Lake Vättern.
Gränna. Not only candy canes, Andreemuseum, Visingsö. Preferably a detour to Bauergården in Bunn, Sweden's only Topplatz (German ranking of the best campsites).
Jönköping with Oset, Elmia and a nice city, which unfortunately we haven't seen much of ...
The bison farm in Grate, south of Hjo. Car park and restaurant. And bison. Take a safari.
Hjo. The cosy wooden town. Stroll around, walk along the creek up to Stampens kvarn, where we had one of the best meals ever.
Karlsborg with its fortress and Göta Canal. There is much to see here. Parking space at the sailing society.
Granvik. Pub and boat harbour, just north of Karlsborg. Small, simple campsite. Close to Tiveden, the big forest with lots of excursion destinations.
Askersund is a cosy small town with a nice parking space near the centre. Always full, unfortunately.
Motala is a lovely seaside town with a pleasant harbour and canal environment, a radio museum and a motorcycle museum.
Just something that exists around our most elongated inland sea. Go here.

Wow, so many good tips! Some of these places we have visited, but far from all. Agree with Vadstena, Gränna and Visingsö, among others, these are places we like a lot! Then there are a lot of places we have not had time for. Hjo we are curious about! Thanks again for all the tips!
