Many of us dream of going away for a long time, discovering the world and gaining new experiences. But planning a trip also means saving money. To pay for activities, food and accommodation, and other pleasures, you may need more than just a penny from home.

This is the perfect time to get a job and build up an extra travel fund. This way you can extend your stay in the country and do all the adventures you want to do, while earning money. Working abroad allows you to gain insight into a new culture, face challenges and develop as a person.

Advantages working and travelling abroad

There are many advantages to combining work and travel. The main advantage, of course, is that you don't have to save as much money before travelling. You can travel much further and see many more destinations. Another advantage is that work experience in another country is often appreciated by employers. Especially if you are young and have less experience.

Thus, having worked abroad improves your future opportunities in the Swedish labour market. With international work experience under your belt, you can be more attractive to a number of industries that need language skills. A job abroad on your CV says that you can stand on your own two feet, you can cope with new situations and communicate easily with others.

Working abroad can also contribute to positive personal development. You will get to know a new culture and its norms, thus broadening your horizons. You will also build a network that can serve you well in your future career. After working and travelling abroad, you will have gained many experiences and created memories that will last a lifetime.

Finding a job abroad can be a process and feel unfamiliar. If you're interested in working in Europe, you might want to familiarise yourself with the European Employment Services (EURES) network. Are you between 18-30 years old? Then you can go on a Work & Travel visa. Travelling on a Work & Travel visa means you have a work visa and can stay in the country for up to one year. There are a few countries that offer this type of visa. Try surfing along Australia's beautiful beaches, discover fun activities in New Zealand or why not go skiing in Canada?

Working in the EU

If you want to work abroad, you need to be aware that different work visas may be required. To simplify this part when preparing to leave, consider applying for jobs within the EU. As a national of an EU country, you can work in any member state. Are you staying longer than 3 months? Then you may need to register in the new country.

Telecommuting jobs

With a remote job, you are not tied to a geographical location. You no longer have to wait to travel when you are on holiday but can travel whenever you feel like it! To working abroad allows you to earn money and explore the world, at the same time!

The most common option for those who want to manage their own time and work remotely is freelancing. This means performing services and tasks without being an employee. You can also work as a remote teacher, chat operator, customer service or online coach.
