Right now we are planning our spring and summer motorhome trip. We have not picked up the motorhome from winter storage yet, but it is getting closer. However, the planning is in full swing!
Table of contents
We leave in mid-April
In mid-April, it's going to happen. That's when the FREEDOM motorhome will hit the road for the 2022 long motorhome journey. Where will it go? We'll tell you! The details are of course not set in stone, and things can change during the journey, but here is a rough plan.
Southwards through Sweden
We start by driving southwards through Sweden. There are a number of places along the way that we are curious to explore. We also have some collaborations going on, partly with a camping chain and partly with the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions. We will probably visit some of these destinations on our way down through the country. Eventually we will make our way down to Malmö, and from there we will travel with Finnlines to Travemünde in Germany.
Germany
I Germany we start by discovering Hamburg. We were supposed to go there on a press trip in January, but the trip was cancelled due to the pandemic. Now we have the chance to make up for this and do what we would have done in January. Among other things, there will be a visit to the concert hall Elbe Philharmonic Hall.
We then continue southwards to discover Saxony-Anhalt, the Harz mountains and, among other things Korsvirkesvägen. There are so many themed roads in Germany, and now we will at last drive a bit along one of them (considering that the Korsvirkesvägen is about 300 miles long, it won't be all of it...). It will be very interesting!
Czech Republic
We then continue into the Czech Republic. Here we will experience several new places for us. Because yes, even though we have been to the Czech Republic many times, there are still exciting places to see and discover! We also plan to find some nice place where we can stand still for a while and finish up summer magazine.
Germany again
After the Czech Republic, it's back to Germany. Now Dresden is on the agenda, with both a beautiful city and dramatic scenery. Then it's time to return to Sweden.
Sweden - Bohuslän
In Sweden, we plan to do the route that we wanted to do last year, but didn't have the time. This means that we will get to Gothenburg and then slowly follow the coastal route northwards towards Norway. We simply plan to discover Bohuslän!
Getting ready for the journey
We plan to be on the road for several months, and right now we are getting ready for the trip in different ways. First and foremost, we are trying to get things done here at home. Among other things, we have to fix a little with the houseboatand conduct some physical meetings. Soon we will pick up the motorhome. We are really looking forward to that!

We leave next Saturday and will be away for just over a month. We start with a large motorhome meeting in Sölvesborg and then continue to explore Skåne thoroughly.
Hope your trip is fantastic!

Hi, if the war has not taken a serious turn and if I manage to get a new passport, the ferry Gothenburg-Kiel departs on 10 May (trying to get a provisional passport in case of emergency). We follow the North Sea coast southwards towards Benelux which we have only visited superficially a few times. Now we will give ourselves time to visit museums and other sights in peace and quiet.
Finally, we head home with a stop in Jutland to visit good friends before arriving home in mid-June.
Then we park the car until mid-August when we head for Jotunheimen and mountain hiking is on the list.
But in between we will "exercise" our old dear Adec700 from 1978, a double-ruffled boat with sleeping space and kitchen plus a portapotti 😀.
There's nothing better on a hot summer's day than sitting on a cliff far out at sea and enjoying the sun, the sound of waves and a gentle breeze that cools things down.

How nice for you to get out on a real long journey. Today it is exactly two weeks until we roll off the ferry in Kiel. The first stop will be a couple of days in Bremen, before focusing on the Netherlands during the tulip season. Then it will probably be wine and nature along the Moselle and Rhine. French Switzerland is also tempting, but we'll see what we can do. We have promised ourselves not to rush off, but to really stop if we feel particularly good somewhere.
We are probably out for 5-6 weeks this time.
we visited some of your planned destinations in Germany last autumn when we rode a steam locomotive up the Brocken and visited several half-timbered gems, especially the beautiful Quedlinburg, which we really like.
31 March 2022 - 10:11
Helena says:
Yes, it feels really fun! It sounds like you also have a really exciting journey ahead of you! And yes, I remember that you visited some of the destinations we are planning - it looked very tempting! 🙂

Fun with a long motorhome trip again. You don't have to be retired to have a long holiday;-)
Korsvirkesvägen - WOW, so beautiful. What houses! It will be interesting to hear if you like Hamburg. I've never liked that city, but Bremen was a city completely to my liking.
31 March 2022 - 18:29
Helena says:
Yes, very funny!!! But the thing is that we can not have a holiday all the time but have to work along the way, in different ways. However, great to be able to work digitally! We will see what we like Hamburg then, it will be interesting!

Finally, right? I look forward to getting tips on the Korsvirkesvägen in Germany as it is something we have considered! Bohuslän is really beautiful and interesting history tip is to go into Norway and Fredriksten fortress where Karl XII was shot.
Our plans have already changed in the spring and did not happen...but now we are aiming for the Land Rover meeting in April! There will be small excursions in the local area, as well as Skåne. Possibly Stockholm if the daughter will work there!
31 March 2022 - 19:48
Helena says:
Thanks for the tips! Land Rover meeting sounds fun! And Skåne is sooo nice! 🙂 What will the daughter work with in Stockholm?

She works at Padelzenter here at home and will possibly move to Stockholm when it is holiday time. 😃

Oh how exciting. I would also like to do more of Germany. There are so many beautiful places. But it feels like for us there will be a lot of focus on France and the Mediterranean :). Safe trip ♡

Yes, Germany really has a lot to offer! You will never be done with that country, so to speak 😉 We also like France and the Mediterranean, wonderful!

What exciting and fun travel plans!
"We have plans, but what happens depends on how things develop in Ukraine and Russia. And then health also determines what is possible.
I will be doing a lot of travelling this summer. But foreign trips to the Russian border in Finland and Valamo New Monastery and Krakow don't feel relevant right now.
But there will be plenty of Sweden, including Bohuslän, the High Coast, Kiruna and the midnight sun, etc.
There will also be some work in Stockholm and the archipelago.
31 March 2022 - 20:35
Helena says:
Of course it is sad that the world situation is as it is! You have to follow the development ... However, it sounds like you have really nice plans in Sweden too!!!

Reiselinda says:
What wonderful plans you have! We have already visited many of the places in Germany, but it will be fun to see what you do there and in places we haven't visited yet! We hope. We are moving into the motorhome in a few weeks, but the travel plans are very unclear. There are some things that need to be finalised before we are "free" to do what we want. The biggest wishes for this year are to have two months at our disposal to go north with a focus on the far north of northern Norway and to escape the winter as it approaches.
01 April 2022 - 14:16
Helena says:
Yes, it will be exciting! We'll see what we find along the way! 🙂 By the way, you have absolutely fantastic exciting adventures going on. We follow it with great interest! 🙂

Helena says:
Hope that everything goes as you want with the house!!! And hope that you can also come to Sweden on occasion!!!

Then there will be a shift change because we have just come home after the winter out with the motorhome. Now there will be a little more work in the new association iHusbil. It will be exciting to follow your journey. Drive calmly!

Welcome home! And good luck with your work in the new organisation!

Sounds wonderful to go away for so long.
We ourselves are sitting at Heathrow, already on our way back home. Many small short journeys instead of the fewer and longer ones we would like.
