We live in a houseboat in Stockholm. Very soon we will be leaving for a longer trip - with our campervan - and before we do, we want to show you some photos from our accommodation in Pampa's marina.

Houseboat in Stockholm in Pampas marina
We live in Pampas marina, located in City of Solna in Stockholm County. Although we live in Solna, we are very close to the centre of Stockholm. Across the water is Hornsbergs strand on Kungsholmen and it only takes about half an hour to walk to Sankt Eriksplan.
The Pampas marina has both small and large houseboats, as well as floating villas, pleasure boats and businesses. In the distance you can see the big city Stockholm with its tall buildings.
Pampas marina - accommodation for 40 houseboats and floating villas
The Pampas marina has accommodation for 40 houseboats and floating villas. There are around 25 floating villas and 15 houseboats here. The floating villas are houses built by a subsidiary of Pampas marina AB.
The houseboats are all kinds of boats: barges, passenger sloops and the white oblong 'Villa Voyager'.
Aquavillas are large floating villas, usually with three floors, that serve as exclusive accommodation on water.
Staying in a houseboat in Stockholm - a great place to live
We think it's great to live in a houseboat in Stockholm. We live in a, comparatively, slightly smaller houseboat which once served as a passenger sloop. Today the boat has been converted into a houseboat and serves as just that - a charming rocking accommodation on water.
Of course, not everything is fantastic exactly all the time. There are hassles with everything from mortgages to insurance, and the maintenance is similar to that of a house. Men the crashing of the waves and the sound of the birds and flags drown out most of any doubts ...
The living space in our houseboat is around 75 square metres and we have everything we need for two people, including a dishwasher and washing machine. We also have a deck with a patio for six people.
From the deck we have a view of the inlet and there is always something going on! In the summers there are small boats, kayaks and stand up paddle boards. In winter, there are icebreakers and other marina boats at work. Or maybe it's ice floes, birds or fish that catch our attention...
Restaurant K4
The marina is home to the K4 restaurant, which serves a great meal. Stockholm brunchbut also lunch and dinner. Right now they are setting up a new nice outdoor seating / pergola and it will be a real boost for the summer! Even the tent next door, which is still in the picture, will be replaced with something completely new. Come here this summer and check it out!
Canoe hire
In the marina you can also find canoe hire at Paddling in the Pampas. From here, you can paddle into the centre of Stockholm, or out towards the Sundbyberg.
From houseboat in Stockholm to motorhome in the world
We live in a houseboat in Stockholm and we have a motorhome. Soon, soon we will leave in the motorhome for a four-month motorhome trip in Sweden and Europe. The houseboat will be looked after by neighbours and friends, and we will go on an adventure. Follow here on freedomtravel.se and on Instagram at @freedomtravelnews.
Have you ever been on a houseboat in Stockholm? Or maybe somewhere else?
Helena+from+Finland says:
What a view! I have never been on a houseboat but it really looks like a cosy accommodation. I would probably worry about getting seasick...I know it sounds crazy but I'm not a sailor😂. I imagine a bit like motorhome life. We like to seek out the water with our motorhome but then the "feet" are on land 😏. Greetings from the Moselle Valley!

We also think like that when we travel with the motorhome - preferably near water! 🙂 When it comes to seasickness and houseboat, I can say that in normal cases it rocks very gently, or rather it does not rock, but you can sense a gentle movement. When it storms, however, then it can rock all the more 😉.

A few years ago, I worked for a couple of months from Pampas Marina when the Northern Link was widened along Karlberg. We actually had our site office on a barge at Pampas. Yes, you have to look for a better lunch restaurant than K4.
Good luck on your long motorhome journey. It will be exciting to read about your reports along the way.

Aha, we didn't know that! Great! Funny also to hear that K4 is good as a lunch restaurant! We have eaten brunch there among other things (very good!), but it has not been lunch because it is probably "too close" 😉

Boats are cosy! But a motorhome has its advantages, clearly. Wishing you a really nice Easter!

You are right, it is a fantastically nice accommodation there in Pampas Marina. Kind of a holiday accommodation all year round, except when the ice floes thump against the hull, but that can be endured for a few nights;-)
I have been on board Gratia, the old boat that lies outside Dittes house in Hammarbyhamnen. She has written about the old cargo boat before. Even there it was perfectly fine. Could easily imagine living on a houseboat:-)

Helena says:
Yes, there is a bit of a holiday feeling! And I agree, we can put up with a few days of ice cubes a year 😉 Glad you were on the boat in Hammarbyhamnen. There are a lot of cool houseboats and ships in Stockholm!
