Book launch: The first book for sustainable tourism

The recent launch of the book The power of the traveller - tourism that nourishes and consumes. It is the first Swedish book aimed at travellers who want to contribute to a more positive and sustainable tourism by using their power and making active choices before, during and after travel. The book covers topics such as power, values, accommodation, food, transport, animals, environment, alcohol and gender.

"I am convinced that people want to make a good impression," says author Linda Vismer, who hopes the book will provide knowledge and tools to do so. You can find the book in author's shop (use the discount code "Freedom15" for a 15 % discount!) and in online bookshops.

World's longest pedestrian suspension bridge opens in Czech Republic

A record-breaking suspension bridge was opened on 13 May in the north-east. Czech Republic between the crests of the Kralicky Snezník mountain, offering spectacular views for walkers. 'Skybridge 721' is now the world's longest pedestrian suspension bridge, spanning 721 metres. The bridge was built near a 55 metre high viewing platform from which you can slide down a 100 metre long slide. The new suspension bridge beats the previous record, a 516 metre long suspension bridge near the Portuguese town of Arouca.

Demand for summer holidays is higher than before the pandemic

More trips are now being booked for the summer than before the pandemic. Bookings are 20 per cent higher than in 2019, according to recent statistics from the travel agency Ticket. Only sun and beach destinations in the Mediterranean are being booked this year, and the four most popular destinations are all in Spain. Many countries have removed or simplified rules in connection with the pandemic, but you still need to check what applies in the country you plan to visit. 5 top travel destinations for summer 2022:

First direct flight from Luleå to London this winter

Starting 9 December 2022, SAS will fly directly between Luleå and London. The direct flight will run to and from Heathrow on Monday and Friday every week until 13 March 2023.

Camping is going strong - record quarter for Scandinavia's largest camping chain

The curves are pointing straight upwards for the camping chain First Camp. Turnover has increased from SEK 120 million in 2017 to over SEK 1 billion. The booking situation for this year's high season is about 20 per cent up compared to the same time last year. First Camp is now investing heavily with a packed schedule for Yesi's children's club, training events and evening entertainment during the summer. In total, over 10,000 activities will be offered at First Camp destinations this summer.

Sweden's first hammock hotel opens

Havrevretens Gård outside Trosa is expanding its glamping with an extraordinary hammock experience. On 10 June 2022, Havrevreten's Hammock Hotel will open, where you book a hammock and sleep outdoors in the open air. The hammocks include a sleeping bag, sheet, pillow, mosquito net, towel and rain protection. At the farm there is food service and a toilet as well as access to the forest sauna, the clear Gisesjön lake and activities such as bush craft, MTB bikes, horse and carriage rides and massages.
