Pierdrei Hotels in Hamburg
We are travelling through Germany by motorhome, but in Hamburg we moved from the motorhome to the Pierdrei Hotel for three days. The reason was that during these days we were invited on a press trip, via the Hamburg tourist organisation, and at the same time were offered a hotel stay. The hotel turned out to be really cool (with the possibility to check in a caravan!) and therefore we would like to tell you about it.
Pierdrei Hotel in Hamburg is located in HafenCity in the centre of Hamburg. The hotel has a great location for exploring the city and its attractions.
Our room at Pierdrei hotel
Our room at the Pierdrei hotel was excellent, with a comfortable bed, nice shower and a reasonable number of hangers (always a dilemma in hotels!). Perhaps the most surprising thing was the Sagaland game that stood neatly on a shelf.
Living in a caravan in "Campercity"
If you want something different, you can stay in the 'Campercity', two floors up from the lobby. There are three caravans that can be booked, and outside each one there is outdoor furniture. Fantastically cool and deliciously designed, we thought!
According to the staff at the hotel, the caravans are booked almost all the time, but we were lucky and got to peek into one of them. Fantastically cosy! It may be a little weird to want to check in a caravan at the hotel when travelling with a motorhome, but we really liked this. So charming! Maybe you can find new friends there too, at the communal outdoor table?
Breakfast and restaurant
Breakfast is important in a hotel (we think) and the breakfast at Pierdrei hotel was very good. In addition to everything being nicely laid out, it was well prepared and delicious. Plus points on everything from scrambled eggs to granola!
The hotel restaurant is called Kitchens, and you can also have lunch or dinner here. We had lunch here one day and were very satisfied!
Takbar
Hotel Pierdrei also has a penthouse with great views. In the summer they have a restaurant here. When we were here, at the end of April, you could take a beer up from the restaurant.
Rooms for children and teenagers
Hotel Pierdrei also has special rooms for children and teenagers. The teenage room is described as a "parent-free zone", where you can book yourself in to hang out.
There is also a section for younger children, with Lego, games and reading.
Are you travelling with your own motorhome/caravan?
Travelling with your own motorhome or caravan? Well, there are places for you too! We stayed at the Parkplatz am Strand Pauli (Sankt Pauli Hafenstrasse 89), which has a great location for visiting Hamburg. However, there are no services here, except for rubbish bins.

It was then a very original idea to camp in a hotel. I have never seen it, but as I said - great fun.
