Preparing for a comfortable flight
How comfortable is it to fly? Often not very comfortable at all, at least not if you, like us, fly in economy class. It's cramped and hard to stretch your legs, and you often have to sit still in the same position for many hours. Here are a few tips to make your flight more comfortable and ensure you arrive a little more refreshed.
1. Wear comfortable clothes
First and foremost, it's important to wear comfortable clothes, especially if you're going on a long flight and may want to sleep on the plane. Dress in something comfortable to spend many hours in, and keep an extra jumper in your hand luggage in case it gets cold on board.
2. get moving
Sitting still for hours on end is not optimal for your body, so try to move around as much as possible. If conditions allow, you can take a walk down the centre aisle, taking the opportunity to move your body as much as possible. You can also move your legs, feet and toes while sitting in your seat. This will reduce the risk of swelling in your legs and feet.
3. use support stockings
As it can be difficult to move around adequately on an aircraft, wearing support socks can be a good idea, especially if you tend to have problems with swollen legs or feet and are about to embark on a longer flight. Support socks help to prevent swelling, while reducing the risk of blood clots. Where to find good support socks for travelling.
4. Drink water
One of the most important things to feel good on board an aircraft is to drink enough water. You can't bring liquids through security, but you can bring an empty water bottle, and some airports have stations where you can refill fresh water. Another option is to buy water at the airport, after the security check. Of course, you can also buy water on board.
5. stock up on food
Eating regularly helps you feel good, but when travelling, planning meals is not always easy. Don't skip eating and try to find a suitable alternative, whether it's at the airport, on board or if you've packed a packed lunch. It's often better to take the opportunity to eat something than to wait, as you never know when you'll be able to eat next. Unexpected queues and waiting times can occur both on board and at airports.
6. Pack extra snacks
When you are travelling, you never know what will happen with meals, so it's a good idea to pack some extra snacks. For example, you can pack chocolate, fruit or dried fruit. Keep in mind that nuts are not a suitable option, as there may be allergy sufferers on board.
7. take the hygiene items you need with you
If you're only flying for an hour or two, you may not need any toiletries, but if you're travelling on a longer flight, you may want to pack things like a toothbrush and toothpaste, or perhaps deodorant. Keep in mind that you must choose travel packs that do not exceed 100 ml.
8. Pack essential medicines in your hand luggage
If you need medicines on a regular basis, or if you may need them on an ad hoc basis, it is important to pack them in your hand luggage for easy access.
9. maintain yourself
Flying can get boring in the long run, so it's good to prepare with entertainment. Bring a good book, some magazines, films, games, music, headphones or maybe some handicrafts. Keep in mind that you usually can't use the internet. Some airlines allow you to buy internet on board, but it may not always work as well as you would like. Use the time to do something else nice instead!
10. Prepping for sleep
If you can, it's often nice to be able to sleep for a while on board, but of course it's not always easy to fall asleep given that you're sitting uncomfortably and may be disturbed by both light and sound. You can help yourself by taking a neck pillow, a sleep mask and/or earplugs with you.

I think it is important to book " good seats " in the
plane, preferably at the emergency exit or with plenty of space. Costs a little extra but is worth it. Also nice to pay a little extra for first track if it is not included in the ticket price... nice to also bring your own back cushion that moulds to your back and can be rolled up and become small.
