The treetop course in Krkonoše, in the north of the Czech Republic, offers a wonderful nature experience. You walk high up among the treetops, experiencing the forest as the birds do. If you're feeling adventurous, you can take the slide down from the 45 metre high tower.

Tree-top railway in Krkonoše
The Tree Top Walk in Krkonoše offers a 1500 metre trail through the treetops and a 45 metre high tower. Here you can learn more about nature and have a great experience at the same time.

The treetop course is located in the forests of the Krkonoše National Park, in the north of the Czech Republic.
Visiting the treetop railway in Krkonoše
You can get to the treetop railway in Krkonoše by car or bus. There are three car parks right next to the attraction. We thought there were perhaps a few spaces for larger motorhomes, but we still managed to find a place to park. Then it was just a short walk to the entrance.

Treetop track
The first part of the treetop course consists of a long wooden trail high up in the treetops. The trail is beautiful and offers a view of nature from the birds' perspective.

At regular intervals, you can stop at various information boards that tell you about the plants, birds and animals in the area, also in English. In addition, there are plenty of playful activities for children and the young at heart, such as various 'adventure' paths.

For example, there is a large net, which you can venture out on if you are not afraid to look down on the ground far below. As you can see, Peter strolls around there carefree while I (Helena) take photos from a safe distance.

Tower
Eventually you reach the 45 metre high tower. The building is both tall and fascinating, while the wood blends well with nature.

One thing that is special about the Krkonoše treetop tower is that it is one floor below ground. This is where the tour starts and where you can learn more about the nature and geology of the area through various exhibitions.

Once you've finished on the ground floor, it's time to start heading up! The floors slowly spiral upwards in circles, and as you walk up you can check out the slide in the centre, which some people choose as a voluntary - and quick - way to get back down.

I (Helena) stopped a little bit before reaching the top, as I am afraid of heights. Peter continued (of course!) to the top.

From the top he had a great view of the surrounding green areas.

Restaurant and playground
Right next to the treetop railway in Krkonoše, there is a playground built out of wood. There's also a restaurant and souvenir shop, and we were fascinated by how they managed to build this modern architecture so that it feels environmentally friendly and blends in with the surrounding nature. If there's one thing the Czechs love - and care about - it's nature!

Where can you stay with a motorhome/caravan?
From the treetop track it is not far to Autocamp Slunečná, where we stayed for two nights. This is a relatively simple, but pleasant campsite surrounded by beautiful nature.

This gives an immediate flashback to the "Bird's Nest" we were up in on Rügen during the Beach Basket Challenge, a really nice way to get up among the treetops!
