Delivery problems and concerns in the motorhome and caravan industry

The National Association of the Caravan Industry (HRF) summarises a half-year that reflects a spring marked by delivery problems due to the corona pandemic, general concern due to the war in Ukraine and concerns about upcoming interest rate increases. Despite this, levels of new caravan and motorhome sales are in line with "normal" if one disregards last year's pandemic effect.

  • Caravan registrations for June 2022: 461 caravans (corresponding month 2021: 574 caravans)
  • Motorhome registrations for June 2022: 528 mobile homes (corresponding month 202: 738 mobile homes)

Halland and Blekinge break visitor records

Even before the summer has begun, it looks like a record year for the tourism industry in Halland. "The figures from the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth speak for themselves and the industry indicates that they have more bookings than ever," says Anna Bengtsson, strategist at Visit Halland.

The latest report from the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth (Tillväxtverket) also testifies to the high pressure for Blekinge. May's figures for commercial guest nights hit a record high for the period with almost 250,000 commercial guest nights, which is almost 20,000 more than the previous best result from 2017.

Reflection of the week

Delivery problems in the motorhome and caravan world are understandable in these times. However, there seems to be no lack of interest in camping life. And so much fun with Campingbio! We hope to catch one of the film screenings later this summer.
