Motorhomes at Elmia Caravan Motorhome 2022 - news and trends
For our part, there were many laps of the fair. Scandinavian Caravan Showwhich took place on 7-11 September. We looked around everywhere and consulted the vendors to find out about new products, trends and features.
Currently, the industry is severely affected by component shortages and it is difficult to produce motorhomes quickly enough. The hardest thing to come by is Fiat chassis, which used to be almost entirely dominant in the European motorhome market. As a result, you now see motorhomes with both Mercedes chassis and all sorts of other chassis. Some trends we saw for motorhomes at Elmia 2022:
- Many different chassis
- Higher prices
- Several small models - "a cross between a van and a motorhome"
Here we present twelve motorhomes that we found interesting, either because they are new or because they stand out or sparked our interest in some other way.
1st Knaus Tourer Van Vansation 500 MQ
The Knaus Vansation is a slightly shorter motorhome that almost feels like a cross between a campervan and a motorhome. The vehicle has a Volkswagen chassis and is equipped with a transverse bed. What's different is that the shower wall can be retracted over the bed to create more space in the shower - and then retracted to create more space in the bed.
- Length: 5.89 metres
- Beds: 2
- Basic price: 978 thousand
2nd Morelo Palace 93 MB
If you want something really big and luxurious, take a look at a Morelo motorhome. The Morelo Palace 93 MB was one of the new models on display at the show, and what's new here is the interior. Right next door was the Morelo Loft Liner GQ, where you can drive a car into the garage.
- Length: 9.49 metres
- Beds: Up to 6
- Basic price: 3.7 million
3rd Adria Matrix Supreme 670 SL
We think Adria's motorhomes are great. The Adria Matrix Supreme 670 SL is now available with a Mercedes chassis, which affects the price considerably. This motorhome costs around SEK 400,000 more with a Mercedes chassis than with a Fiat chassis, but according to the seller, customers are still interested in the Mercedes chassis.
- Length: 7.48 metres
- Beds: 2-4
- Basic price: 1.58 million
4th Adria Supersonic 780 DC
Another new model from Adria is the Supersonic 780 DC. This is also equipped with a Mercedes chassis, which of course affects the price. We think the interior is nice!
- Length: 7.8 metres
- Beds: 4
- Basic price: 1.79 million
5th Chausson S697GA Sport Line
Chausson showed a slightly different model, which they market under the slogan "Compact as a van - comfortable as a motorhome". The vehicle is a little lower than Chausson's usual motorhomes (2.75 metres instead of 2.92 metres) and a little lighter, which means a greater load weight. The price tag is also slightly lower. The motorhome is equipped with a Ford chassis and comes in a stylish grey colour.
- Length: 6,59
- Beds: 2-4
- Basic price: 749 thousand
6. VANTourer VT600D
All VANTourer cars are available with pop-up roofs, and the special feature of these is that they are always equipped with lighting, heat exhaust and a USB plug. The cars are also always equipped with a diesel heater, instead of LPG.
We looked at the VANTourer VT600D which had a Fiat chassis, but is also available with a Peugot chassis. A special feature of this is that the shower floor and bathroom door can be folded out, so that the shower space becomes larger just when you want to take a shower. When it comes to sleeping arrangements, the bed can be raised and lowered, and it is possible to add additional beds.
- Length: 5.99 metres
- Beds: 2+2+1
- Basic price: 716 thousand
7. VANTourer Urban Comfort
We also checked out the VANTourer Urban Comfort, which is a vehicle that can be used both as a regular passenger car and as a camping vehicle. For example, the car could be used by a travelling salesman, who sometimes wants to sleep in his car and sometimes wants to drive down to a parking garage and stay in a hotel. A different feature of this vehicle is that the entire kitchen can be lifted out, for those who want to cook in the open air.
- Length: 5.14 metres
- Beds: 2+2
- Basic price: 854 thousand
8. the Voyageur Heritage 7.9 CF
Le Voyageur motorhomes stand out with an exclusive design. For example, we checked out the Heritage 7.9 CF, which was shown with a clean white design.
- Length: 7.91 metres
- Beds: 4
- Basic price: 1.87 million
9. Malibu Van first class - two rooms coupe 640 LE RB
At Malibu we found no specific news, but their vans are always nice! We looked at a nice model with a Fiat chassis and a pop-up roof.
- Length: 6.35 metres
- Beds: 2 (or 4 as an option)
- Basic price: 849 thousand
10th Weinsberg Cara Compact MB Edition (Pepper) 640 MEG
We checked out the new CaraCompact on a Mercedes chassis, and have to say that the chassis added a nice look to this car.
- Length: 6.92 metres
- Beds: 2
- Basic price: 927 thousand
11th Weinsberg X-cursion Van Edition (Pepper) 500 LT
Another exciting motorhome from Weinsberg is the X-cursion Van Edition. This is the first Weinsberg to be based on a Volkswagen chassis, which gives it a unique look. A compact small motorhome with a campervan feel!
- Length: 5.88 metres
- Beds: 2
- Basic price: 962 thousand
12th Sun Living C60 SP
Sun Living, an entry-level brand within Adria, presented several new products at the fair. One of these was the C60 SP model, which is a small and compact motorhome for two people. This is a slightly simpler motorhome, which therefore also has a slightly lower price tag.
- Length: 5.99 metres
- Beds: 2
- Basic price: 712 thousand
Which is your favourite of these motorhomes at Elmia Husvagn Husbil 2022?
What do you like about these motorhomes? Is there a favourite? Or, were you at the fair yourself and found another motorhome (or caravan) that caught your eye?
Matts Torebring says:
I think it's great that there are motorhomes that are close to a flatbed, but with a little more comfort and space and not much more expensive.
The current prices for new vehicles should slow down sales, I think. The cost of living has also increased significantly. We are glad that we switched in 2018, when prices were still affordable. The same vehicle today is 25% more expensive. In addition, our car is tax exempt until 2023. On top of all that, fuel costs 50% more today than 4 years ago.

Helena says:
Yes, it's great to have new ideas and new opportunities! We also think that prices should affect sales, but it seemed at the fair that sales went well, despite high prices and the economic situation ... !
13 September 2022 - 17:11
Kruth Lo says:
And all are sources of death in a crash where a 20-year-old V70 would provide adequate protection.
13 September 2022 - 10:38
Helena says:
How do you mean?
13 September 2022 - 17:13
BP says:
I agree with Matts about the "tiny" feeling.
The luxurious "vrålåken" had price tags that only rich people from Djursholm can afford, and then only after they sold their house in Djursholm;-)
