Elmia Caravan Motorhome attracted 29,000 visitors
After five intensive days at Elmia Husvagn Husbil, it is clear that interest in the industry is greater than ever. The dealers have largely sold out of their existing stock, both of new and used vehicles. Lars Bergholm, CEO of Bergholm, says that on the opening day they beat the previous sales record by 25 per cent. This year's Elmia Husvagn Husbil showed that it is the given industry arena and gathered a total of 130 exhibitors and 29,000 visitors.
Mercedes-Benz bets big on motorhomes of all sizes
Mercedes-Benz is one of the few car brands to enter the motorhome market under its own name. The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter has long been used for "ploughing", but a few years ago the Sprinter was also launched with front-wheel drive, allowing it to be sold as a so-called "tractor head". At Elmia this week, a naked chassis was displayed where visitors could see what distinguishes Mercedes-based motorhomes from others. Mercedes-Benz also sells a motorhome under its own name, the V-Class Marco Polo with a retractable roof.
6 million guest nights at Swedish campsites in July
Preliminary statistics show that the number of guest nights at Sweden's campsites in July increased by 9 per cent to just over 6 million compared to 2021. The proportion of international guests amounted to 29 per cent. In July, 44 per cent of all international tourists in Sweden chose to stay at a campsite. In total, international guest nights have increased by 286 per cent during the year and are now approaching pre-pandemic levels. The biggest increase comes from Norway.
FRS Baltic's catamaran Skane Jet changes harbour
FRS Baltics The high-speed catamaran has been operating the Sassnitz-Ystad route since 2020. At the beginning of the 2023 season, there will be a change of course. The new destination harbour is Trelleborg - the gateway to Germany and to Europe. The high-speed catamaran Skane Jet transports more than 600 passengers and 200 vehicles from Germany to Sweden in just 2.5 hours, making it the fastest connection by sea.
Record summer for Viking Line
A total of over 740,000 people travelled on Viking Glory and Viking Grace during June-August. The total number of travellers on all Viking Line vessels during the three summer months was close to two million. In addition to Viking Line's traditional target groups, Viking Glory has also attracted a larger proportion of young adults to cruise, many of whom were travelling for the first time. A new record summer in the number of pets was also noted, with more than 10,500 pets staying at Scandic during the summer.
