Finnlines presents new delicious ships

This week, Finnlines presented two new Superstar class vessels as part of the company's investment programme totalling SEK 500 million. The first will be deployed on the Kapellskär-Långnäs-Naantali route in the autumn of 2023. The vessels will be named Finnsirius and Finncanopus after the brightest stars in the night sky.

The new ships, each with a capacity of 1100 passengers, will have attractive restaurants, a spa area with a Finnish sauna, comfortable workplaces and lounges, and extensive shopping areas. There is also a strong focus on sustainability, including ecological materials and intelligent LED lighting.

Eurowings opts for white trainers for its staff

Starting this autumn, Eurowings will for the first time be able to wear white sneakers with the airline's logo as part of its uniform. Eurowings Europe crews with stops at Stockholm and Mallorca stations, Prague, Salzburg and Pristina, as well as Eurowings Germany, will try wearing trainers in the cabin. Eurowings also wants to contribute to change in the industry and has therefore started an international discussion on whether it is time to replace high heels on board with sneakers.

ForSea reduces CO2 emissions

According to a press release, ForSea continues to break new ground in sustainable travel. During the year, the ferry Tycho Brahe has had all its battery packs replaced in order to store more energy and double the life of the battery pack from 5 to 10 years. Starting last week, Tycho Brahe is once again sailing with battery power and the world's largest battery pack. ForSea has thus completed another major project that means major environmental benefits for the entire Öresund region with reduced CO2 emissions of over 70 per cent per year.

Technical Museum displays retro vehicles

When Technical Museum When the Zero City exhibition opened earlier this year, the focus was on sustainable solutions for the city of the future. Now the exhibition is being complemented by a historical deep dive - 800 square metres - where lots of vehicles from the 1890s onwards are on display. In addition, the museum welcomes the autumn holidays starting on 29 November, with experiments, shows and visits from researchers.

Canary Islands want to attract 'silver tourists'

The Canary Islands have long been a popular destination for silver tourists, i.e. travellers over the age of 55. Unspoilt nature, a pleasant climate and safety are some of the reasons for choosing the Canary Islands. Canary Islands Tourism now presents a new campaign to attract even more silver tourists. With a budget of €535,000, the campaign will run for one and a half months in Sweden, Norway, the UK, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Train companies release Christmas tickets

Many people want to book train tickets for the Christmas and New Year holidays. Three train companies have issued press releases regarding Christmas train tickets:

  • FlixTrain has released its Christmas and New Year tickets between Gothenburg and Stockholm. The new timetable is valid from 11 December to 15 January 2023.
  • SJ will release tickets for travel between 11 December 2022 and 12 March 2023 on Wednesday 9 November.
  • The railway company MTRX tickets are now on sale for the Christmas and New Year holidays and until 26 February 2023. 

Spectacular hotel to be built in the centre of Norrköping

When the Clary House Hotel opens in Norrköping In autumn 2025, the city's hotel scene will be taken to a whole new level - literally. The hotel will be equipped with several restaurants, a sky bar with the sky as a roof, a large spa and advanced design. Winn Hotel Group and Skanska have been working on the project for several years and have now signed a contract for the construction, which is located 300 metres from Norrköping's planned new travel centre.
