Autumn is here - time to plan and reflect!

Autumn is here, and with a vengeance. The leaves on the trees are changing in beautiful colours and the air is starting to feel chilly. Now is the time to plan for and reflect on this time of year.

An autumnal list

With the travel blogger Dryden we recently read an autumn list, and he in turn had been inspired by travel blogger Travel Friday. Let's get inspired further. Here are the answers to the list's questions from us, Helena and Peter at FREEDOMtravel's editorial office. Feel free to answer too, in a comment or on your own blog!

1. What are you most looking forward to about autumn 2022?

Autumn 2022 feels exciting! We look forward to travelling to Cyprus, but we are also looking forward to the autumn events, meetings and small trips in Sweden.

2. What worries you this autumn?

When I (Helena) was little, I was afraid of the Soviet Union, but I thought that this scary place was very far away. I remember vividly when one day I suddenly saw on the map how close the Soviet Union was. That fear. The lump in my stomach. Later in life, the fear subsided and I started travelling instead in the Russia. Now, unfortunately, the anxiety is back a bit. The situation in the world worries us.

3. What was your maximum one year ago?

Last autumn was an intense travel autumn for us. We travelled in cosy Skåne, exciting The Crystal Valley in the Czech Republic, fascinating Cappadocia in Turkey, glorious Tunisia and fine Kingdom of glass in Småland. Really, really good trips!

4. What did your autumn look like five years ago?

In autumn 2017, we cruised with Royal Caribbean in Spain, France and Italy. Peter was also in Cassandra in Greece and, as Christmas approached, we went on a fantastically exciting trip in the Israel. Visiting Jerusalem was a special feeling!

5. What kind of culture do you plan to consume this autumn?

During our travels we have become more and more interested in culture and art. We plan to check out even more museums and even more street art.

6. New things you want to learn this autumn?

We will, like many other Swedes, try to learn to be a little better at conserving electricity. We have shopped heavily with firewood to light the stove!

7. Where will you be travelling this autumn?

We will travel to Cyprus this autumn, and we are looking forward to it very much! In addition, there will be some smaller trips in Sweden, partly with the motorhome and partly to our friends' country house on the island. Ring island in Lake Mälaren.

8. Your top three autumn tips (with a resting theme)

  1. Travel in Sweden in the low season! Even if it's a little cooler and a little darker, new experiences make you happy.
  2. Travel abroad in the low season! Southern Europe can experience slightly milder weather, and the low season means lower prices.
  3. Check out all our travel tips - for Sweden and landscape by landscape (look under 'Sweden' in the menu).

9. What is your default outfit this autumn?

Right now it's a pair of trainers and a nice jacket. I (Helena) can't wait to buy a new pair of boots too. Boots are often a favourite in autumn, but all previous boots are "out" ...

10. More autumn-themed articles?

Can we suggest some more autumn-themed articles? Yes, but of course! You can find some more reading here:
