1. Laholm on Svenska Hallandsvägen

Laholm is a town in southern Halland where you will find fine sandy beaches such as Mellbystrand and Skummeslövsstrand. Just north of Mellbystrand you will also find Lagaoset, where the Lagan river flows into the sea. You can also stroll around the oldest part of Gamleby or visit the Drawing Museum.

2. Halmstad

Halmstad is a pleasant city on the west coast. Here you can experience Stora Torg and Storgatan, check out Halmstad Castle and Norreport or stroll along the Nissan River. You can also take a trip to Galgberget or visit one of the city's art museums.

3. tylösand

Tylösand is located less than a mile southwest of central Halmstad and is best known for its long sandy beaches. Tylösand beach is just over four kilometres long and very popular. In addition to sunbathing and swimming, you can visit restaurants or play a round of golf.

4. Lynga sand dune on the Swedish Halland road

Lynga sand dune, in Haverdal Nature Reserve, is one of the highest sand dunes in Scandinavia. The dune measures 36 metres above sea level and a wooden staircase leads up to the top, where you'll find a viewpoint and coffee table.

5. Svedino Car and Aviation Museum

The Svedino Car and Aviation Museum displays one of Scandinavia's largest collections of old cars and aeroplanes. The collection includes hundreds of cars, around 40 aeroplanes and much more.

6. Grimsholmen Nature Reserve

Grimsholmen Nature Reserve offers an open landscape with coastal meadows, heather, cliffs, pine forests, charming little fishing huts and cows and sheep grazing in the green grass. This is a truly relaxed and beautiful area where you can hike, swim or bird watch.

7. Falkenberg

Falkenberg is a west coast town in Halland that you won't want to miss. Great places to discover include the Old Town, Skrea beach and Vallarna, where you'll find the Vallarna open-air theatre. It is also interesting to visit the RIAN Design Museum, or why not try a pizza at the famous Lilla Napoli?

8. Halland's most beautiful road: Askome-Gällared

Road 716 between Askome and Gällared was voted the most beautiful road in Halland and Falkenberg 50 years ago. It is 16 km long and runs along the Ätran river and the Ätrafors dam, also known as "Ätranrundan". Stop along the way and take the Yngeredsforsens culture trail and the historic Yngeredsfors "Deadfall" power station.

8. Gekås Ullared shopping centre

Gekås Ullared is now Sweden's biggest tourist destination, with around 4.8 million visitors a year. The phenomenon has become so big that there are even TV series set in and around the department store: Ullared and Ullared - The Hunt for the Bestseller. You can go here to shop in bulk or to find bargains.

9. Ästad Vingård on Swedish Hallandsvägen

Ästad Vineyard, located in the middle of the Åkulla Bokskogar nature reserve, is not only a vineyard but also a hotel, spa and conference centre. The farm has three different restaurants and the possibility to book wine tastings. Above all, the place offers a very special environment, almost reminiscent of a fairytale world.

10. Bexell's talking stones in Åkulla beech forests

Bexell's talking stones are an unusual attraction that you can discover while strolling through the beech forests of Åkulla. It was at the end of the 19th century that the lord of the manor and member of parliament Alfred Bexell (1831-1900) had two stonemasons make inscriptions in large stones around his estate in Torstorp. Here you will find, among other things, around 160 engraved sayings.

11. Unesco heritage Grimeton radio station

Along Svenska Hallandsvägen you can take the opportunity to see a Unesco World Heritage Site, in the form of the Grimeton radio station. The background is the technology for sending telegrams that was developed around a hundred years ago. Today Grimeton Radio Station is a destination for the whole family, with exhibitions, guided tours and activities for children.

12. Varberg

Varberg is perhaps best known for Varberg Fortress, which is very interesting to visit along with the Halland Cultural History Museum. You can also check out the beautiful Kallbadhuset, walk along the promenade or experience the cosy nature reserve Getterön.

13. Tjolöholm Castle

Tjolöholm Castle is a sumptuous, beautiful and unusual castle built in 1898-1904 by James Fredrik and Blanche Dickson. Today, the stunning castle is open to the public. During a visit you can also discover the beautiful parks and the charming Allmogebyn.

14. Kungsbacka on Svenska Hallandsvägen

Kungsbacka is located in the northernmost part of Halland. Here you can shop, for example, in the Kungsmässan shopping centre or the Hede Fashion Outlet. If you want a view of the city, you can climb the Tölöberg water tower. If you like nature, you can go to excursion destinations such as Naturum Fjärås Bräcka, Gottskär or Särö.
