Swedes celebrate 2023 on a solo trip
According to new search data from the hotel and travel search site momondo.se, more and more Swedes seem to want to escape the Christmas stress and travel during Christmas and New Year - and many do so alone. The Swedish solo travellers seem to want to go far away from Sweden's winter cold, as it is above all Thailand that attract during Christmas and New Year. Solo travellers' top list of Christmas holiday destinations:
- Bangkok, Thailand
- London, England
- Phuket, Thailand
- Malaga, Spain
- Dubai
Travelling to Croatia will now be easier
Croatia will become part of the Schengen passport-free zone from January 2023, following a recent vote by the European Parliament. The formal decision is expected to be taken by the EU Council of Ministers on 9 December 2022, but already a year ago the Council decided that Croatia fulfils all the requirements set out. This includes the removal of border controls with Slovenia and Hungary, as well as the removal of passport controls on entry by air from Schengen countries. It is also clear that the euro will become the official currency of Croatia as of 1 January 2023.
Canary Islands are the most profitable destination for remote workers
The Canary Islands continue to consolidate their leading position as a telework destination and now the archipelago has been named the most profitable in this segment, by Nomad List, the global telework portal. According to data, the Canary Islands are the place where teleworkers are experiencing the greatest increase in their private savings. Since 2020, the number of teleworkers in the Canary Islands has grown exponentially and this winter Canary Islands Tourism is launching a new campaign to further promote the destination.

Magical record sales at Gekås Ullared
On Saturday 12 November, we visited Gekås Ullared of 21,000 customers who together shopped for a record SEK 48.3 million. This is an increase of an incredible 20 per cent and SEK 6.6 million compared to the previous record day. "It is an absolutely magical sales record" says Patrik Levin, CEO of Gekås Ullared.
World's first circular electric snowmobile made in Sweden
Norrländska Vidde and SkiStar want to work together to contribute to more sustainable mountain experiences. They are doing this with the help of a new, electrically powered snowmobile where the manufacturing process will also be circular and produced in Sweden. Together with a research team from RISE, Research Institute Sweden, Vidde is creating the snowmobile of the future through a circular business model that focuses on sustainability in production, increasing utilisation and finally having a plan for recycling materials and components.

Celebrated New Year in London once and saw a group imitating Abba in a jazz club. A fantastic memory, have also been to Madeira and seen a magical firework display. But this year we are staying home. Can understand that one wants to shop at Gekås, certainly a lot of Christmas gifts purchased. But yes, it's absolutely crazy how much money is spent on shopping, not just at Ge-Kås though...
